Doesn't Povetkin have to be ranked higher than the likes of Wilder, Fury, Ruiz etc?

He was just trying to be super dirty and get Povetkin off his game plan. It was one of the most disgusting foul fests I've ever seen and turned me off Wlad as a fighter.

He defeated Ruslan Chagaev (another elite boxer) and won regular WBA heavyweight title.

Omg that is not the real title. I even said he ‘sat on the WBA regular’

Obviously you are not a real boxing fan. Chagaev has better resume than Wilder, Fury, Ruiz...

if you say that, explain how, because as it stands his best win appears to be a choice between his last gasp struggles over the two worst recent champions we have seen, Ruiz and Valuev. Thats your claim for him being elite?

Look, one doesn't have to be Mike Tyson to be "elite". If you ask any boxing veteran, he would list Chagaev in his elite list.
Chagaev has great amateur and professional career.

Chagaev was a forgettable contender in a forgettable era

I have to agree that it was a lamentable fight. Sure Wlad dominated but the referee really should have stepped in right away and docked points for that hugfest. There's clinching and there's breaking a guy's back. Wlad may well have won anyway, but the huggery took away Povetkin's only chances.

Agree. Chagaev was a cut above.

And took the shine off the win. People don’t really even look at it as a good win, it’s looked more as a no-contest

Elites don’t get ko’d by an Aussie bouncer in their home country

Like Anthony Joshua being wiped the floor by fat boy Ruiz?

The Aussie used drugs and cheated.
