Maybe. He was a good fighter and contender in the early 1980s. Apart from Fury, at his best he was probably better than anyone that Wilder has so far fought in his career.

This. Tillis was actually very durable and skilled and had quick hands, but was also unpredictable and inconsistent. When he turned up in shape and was alcohol free he was good enough to give anybody a tough fight, but unfortunately he let alcohol get in the way of what could’ve been a much better career.

Whilst I don’t agree, Tillis was a tough SOB when he was on his A game.

Wilder probably hits harder long range, but Tyson's short range punches were harder, he damn near had a one inch punch. Added to this, Tyson would be more likely to land his power punches more frequently.

One thing key is that Wilder's long arms allows him to land flush much easier than Tyson could. Also Wilder is able to punch down due to his height, which also helps with power.

Wilder has long arms at the moment?
Are they going to shorten at some point?

You will not always understand what I am trying to say because I use a translator.

Wilder has long arms at the moment, but wait until Tyson grows a few inches. Then he'd really be in the discussion.

Tyson's punch power stemmed from his incredible explosiveness and coiled energy. He could hurt guys from any range and with either hand. Wilder's power stems from his long lever generating a whip like effect, but he needs space to throw and can't really generate much power on any punch barring the right hand. Punch for punch it's possible Wilder hit marginally harder with his right at full extension, but Tyson's power was hugely versatile, and he was naturally heavy handed to boot.

That was not what I was trying to say.
    1. I use translator
    2. I do not speak English
these two reasons mean they can't always understand

Love how he was such a student of the game and must have studied hours of tape and was humble enough to know they were as good as his own era.No way was Tyson just a punches as that peekaboo s*** Must be hard to get down.

Punching down doesn’t increase power it diminishes it.
