Roy Jones is the one who took me from a casual boxing fan into a die hard ....the James Toney fight

My dad grew up in the 20’s being born in 1914. He had all sorts of stories concerning Dempsey. He remembered listening to the second Tunney bout on radio. He watched Tunney as he trained for Dempsey by running around Harvey’s lake backward. Meeting Dempsey at his restaurant in the 40’s.

Little Red, because every fight was exciting, he always came off like an extremely nice guy in interviews, and he had red hair like me.

That fight is one of my all-time favorites. MAB made Hamed look like an amateur that night.

My Dad was born in 1913. He had a short career as a very young boxer, and he loved Dempsey.
    Always waxed lyrical about him.

LOVE MMH. I was right there during all the great 80s battles, too. Amazing era.

Sanchez, too, was one of my favorites once I got back into boxing in 1980. Of course, his death shortly after was seriously terrible for me. To me he was just as perfect as Leonard, Hearns, Benitez, etc. but perhaps moreso. The coolest fighter I've ever watched, his stoicism under fire is legendary imo.

Wow, talk about a super cool blast from the past, I forgot about Cornelius.

As for Saad...that guy is probably my favorite light-heavy ever. Too bad he didn't hold onto the title longer, loved that guy.
