I’m an AJ fan but I do get the impression that the war with Klitschko actually damaged him rather than giving him more confidence. He’s admitted that he has no intention of going into deep waters again and you could almost see it written on his face when Ruiz was pressuring him. An incredible athlete but certainly not a Nigel Benn type who thrives on a tear up

Formally announcing the fight, Joshua will ask Ruiz if he can pose with the belts one last time and Andy Ruiz will announce his new sponsor, Propecia.

This is my problem with boxing fans, I’m not a fan of him at all personality wise, but you’re someone who I presume has very little fighting experience, saying a former world champion and Olympic gold medalist isn’t a fighter, mental....

I have no experience of playing ‘professional’ football either, but I can say that Pogba is a show pony who’s not willing to get his knees dirty never mind go to the trenches for his team without that pro experience.

Whilst you’re correct in a sense that who am I to question whether someone’s a fighter or not, this is a boxing forum, we’re all boxing fans and these things are going to be discussed. I acknowledge he’s world class & that he’s a v tough kid but I think it’s fair to also say that he wants to avoid a Klitschko type war at all costs and to keep it to boxing.

This is the worst type of post you see on sports forums. It's clear what Twenty was referring to. Everyone here respects what Joshua does in the ring as a boxer and a fighter.

Dave Allen would probably knock everyone who posts here out in about thirty seconds in the ring. Does that mean it's "mental" when we comment on his lack of technical ability?

I’d have no problem with someone questioning a boxers technique for example saying I don’t think Joshua can fight on the inside, but for someone who admits to having no fighting experience to say that someone who fights for a living isn’t a fighter, is very hypocritical. He even agreed and acknowledged my point in his second paragraph

The Pogba analogy doesn’t make sense, you were saying Joshua wasn’t a fighter, he clearly is whether we like him or not, you even acknowledged this yourself

It's a valid opinion though which has been expressed by a lot of observers since the Ruiz fight. Both of you have made valid points but I think it was clear what Twenty was saying, in that Joshua is more an athlete who fights rather than a natural born fighter. That's not a disrespectful opinion to express, that is true of many world class boxers.

But just going through your very brief post history, most of your posts are just slating posters on here who are expressing their opinions on fighters and boxing generally. That's the whole purpose of this forum.

The bodybuilders fighting mentality will always be in question when he comes up against a immovable object that he can't move back. Joshua was in a panicked state when that ferocious blob marched forward and just kept on coming for him like he was his last plate of food . The poor weight lifter didn't know what to do, asked his trainer what was happening to him. Joshua 's a one dimensional mid range fighter that relies on that power. But he's been exposed now. Please give that gold medal back to Deontay Anthony, and he'll swap it for the bronze one. it will look more fitting on you. Lol

This is a pretty interesting fight, I don't see it that Ruiz won the lottery at all, he beat the crap out of Joshua fair and square. AJ's mind might not have been on the job but you don't lose like that for nothing, champs find a way if the opposition is that bad, Ruiz clearly wasn't bad and presented AJ with some style issues.

I think AJ will be spooked by all this, if he tries going the villain route it will just look weird and contrived. This reminds me a bit of the Tyson Holyfield fight in that the pressure on Tyson was immense due to his star power and what was expected, as it will be for Joshua, a loss would really be damaging, humiliating. That kind of pressure does strange things to people, Tyson went postal. I'll say this though, I'm not a fan of AJ's but if he wins this rematch in style he will deserve a lot of respect.

I expect this conference to be cringe stuff from AJ as per usual. the same old one hour lectures in answering simple questions. It would be fun to see Ruiz rile him up a bit, probably unlikely though.

Daily reminder that Joshua got gifted his Olympic medal. It's absolutely adorable you defending his honour though, so carry on.

    PS - He's not a fighter. He's a stage-managed athlete.

I’d rather slate posters who I disagree with than constantly slate boxers who got me interested in the sport in the first place. Back to the point, I’d say Hughie Fury is more of a technical boxer than say Gatti, but for me to say Hughie isn’t a fighter would be ridiculous as I’ve never boxed before.... but fair enough, no point in us arguing.
