I think Loma can edge the win, but Campbell is too big for him. This is like Rigo/Loma except Campbell has even a bigger size advantage. Loma needs to go back to 130, beat Tank Davis and clear out the division.
He's a H2H beast at 135 imo. The competition isn't there to get top 10 in a single weight (outside of maybe 140)
For me, he's H2H beast at 130.The best lightweights (all time) are too physical along with comparable skills. The opposition is better at 130 IMO to become an established great. And he compares great with past greats ala Elorde H2H etc.
Its possible, stylistically, Campbell is bad for Loma, he has huge reach and height advantage, lots of combinations, fast, fights tall. If Loma overcomes him easily, it'll just show Loma's class. Clearly p4p 1.
If Loma is as good as we think he is(myself included) then this fight should mimic Floyd vs Gatti.. Yes Campbell is bigger than Loma but the difference in class should be obvious..
Loma should handle Campbell and dominate this fight. Campbell is much taller/longer and may win some rounds. No one has mentioned it but my biggest concern for Loma is his hand. If this fight was in California, he’d still be suspended for injury. Fighting a bigger guy is one matter but doing it with a bad hand could be a problem. Either way, I expect Loma to figure this guy out early and dominate before Campbell’s corner throws in the towel.
This thread didn’t age well. Luke Campbell was a game opponent, and was in the bout for longer than he was out of it, but he wound up losing a unanimous decision, 119-108, 119-108, 118-109. Nothing edged about it. What’s next for Loma is the real question. Hope Floyd lets his pet fight
