I doubt that anybody disputes that Dokes was a good fighter up to 1983. But, the reality, is that Patterson is a better fighter.
Dokes had fast hands as did Patterson. Dokes chin wasn't Marciano like but it wasn't glass, we know what Floyd s was like. I have a feeling that Dokes may pull of a shock early win, nailing Patterson in minutes. A Similar Ingo type win. It's just as possible that Floyd out works him and stops him but I'm going with the Dokes win.
The only reality is that he had the better career but that don’t mean that he is the better fighter in this particular head to head matchup.
Patterson. The guy won more important fights. Dokes never beat anyone any good. And that is the bottom line,
Dokes was a tough guy, and arguably faster than Patterson. At his best, could beat Floyd in a good fight.
