How does Larry exactly answer to Bowe once he bores through his defence and manages to get on the inside? Which is enviable. Evander whom I rate a harder puncher then Holmes threw flurries like a mad man and couldn't remotely shake Bowes pressure and had to war all night I don't believe Larry's uppercut will bother Riddick my brother.
The problem of Bowe against Golota was the weight. He fought those matches drier than ever. With more pounds he would have regularly won.
Think it’s a tough competitive fight. Both trading rounds. Think the best version of both Larry squeaks a decision or maybe even a draw that close.
I think prime Bowe would make Holmes fight, and cause of that I'm leaning towards Bowe by slim decision.
Bowe will never gat that close for a sustained amount of time. Holmes ties him up IF he gets past the jab which most times he wont. Larry had a tremendous uppercut which gets undersold most of the time
[ C'mon now my man the strength difference is quite apparent I can't see it happening that and I don't believe clinching will do Larry any favors at all seeing as Bowe fought out of the clinch plenty to be at his best fighting range on the inside Larry's weakest fighting position. I'm also curios how you propose the jab keeps him honest when Evander hardly ever even moved Bowe in three unforgettable blood baths.
Tight fight for sure. I'd narrowly lean Holmes way. It would be a WAR and both would be very sore post fight. Fantastic fight this one and i'd pay good money to see it. Bowe is a very tough outing for any Heavyweight ever during his short peak. Huge man with loads of assets.
Are you comparing Holys jab with Holmes?? How do you propose Bowe keeps this fight in his range? Is Holmes just going to abandon the left hand? Come on man. Look if thats how you see it fine but i dont buy it for a minute
What about Bowe loosing twice to Golata (yeah, I know, technically...) , or being outboxed by Hyde until Hyde was caught? I don't think this is easy for Holmes but I'd favor him with about 70% confidence. Holmes is about as durable as Holyfield and hits only slightly less hard, but has better reach, a better jab, even better hand speed and is a better long distance fighter. He's not as good a combination or counter-puncher as Holy (very few are) but on the whole I'd expect Holmes to do significantly better against Bowe. I don't think it's a foregone conclusion by any stretch but that's definitely what I'd be expecting.
Bowe gets his face jabbed in with them slow ass reflexes. Holmes had what no heavyweight in the 90s had. A heavy ****ing jockstrap. Jokes outside, Biggs had plenty of success with his left jab when he shared the ring with Riddick Lamont Bowe.. and this Briggs had been through the washer and the dryer (aka Tyson vs Biggs). That was a young Bowe aka Lil Bowe aka Rainbowe. He was still under all kinds of development but I, like everyone else who has watched Papá Grande, think he was hittable af and he was vulnerable to counters on the outside. Not saying he couldn't box. He could do some boxing stuff but his skills aren't what win him the split decision, it's his ****in size and his volume. If you gonna let Larry fight at his pace, you might as well keep your robe on. Bowe can walk through Larry's **** and that will gonna be problematic for Mr. Easton Assasinator. It's a shitty carpenter that bitches about his tools. My mind is saying Larry completes the assignment. Unless Bowe gets it done first. Then it has to be Bowe. Otherwise Larry got this. It's a 50/50 really. Whoever finishes first is what my heart is saying. I think Larry finishes first.
Bowe got hit way too much even at his peak. To me it seemed an Ali-esque proof of toughness, and look what happened to both Bowe and Ali. Getting hit a lot by a 1980 Holmes mean you are ultimately going to lose imo. Every time Bowe comes inside he gets smashed with the uppercut, then Larry clinches. Bowe was never happy when anyone had a jab anywhere near as good as his. Holmes' was better than pretty much anyone else's. You lose Bowe. I love both fighters a lot btw.
