A thread designed to engage in debate about the now signed upcoming fight between WBA and IBF Super Lightweight champs Prograis and Taylor. It's a fight I've been envisaging for 2-3 years now, so excuse my excitement as I have been awaiting this one.

I want everyone interested in this fight to detail strong and weak points of both fighters, so we can debate this potentially great match up.

We know both have speed and power. But what are some of the more subtle skills both have that might carry them to victory? Or what are the flaws that may cost them on the night.

Will experience against better opposition win the day for Taylor or will Prograis' unwavering belief be too much for The Tartan Tornado?

I make no secret of the fact I'm picking Taylor to win but I want a thread building up to the fight to discuss both fighters skills, strategies and weaknesses to detail fan opinion on who is the best 140 pound fighter on the planet (Sorry Ramirez fans)

This isn't a specific prediction thread. I want those picking Prograis to detail why they believe he wins, same with those picking Taylor.

Prograis moves very well off the line and is a natural counterpuncher. The only real flaw is that he doesn't throw combinations off the counter. If he did, he would clean 140 out easily and possibly be a threat at 147. One thing I don't like about Taylor is sometimes he likes to trade a little too much. That is not gonna cut it against Prograis. He could use his movement and boxing ability to tag Prograis on the back foot and possibly beat him on points.

It is gonna be a terrific fight though, i'm gonna be there and look forward to being there to witness a unification and a possible new entrant into the lower end of the p4p table.

I agree with a lot you say, except that IMHO Taylor can trade as he's the more compact puncher with better punch technique and a better all round in-fighter.

Prograis' movement and jab output can pose issues, he looks specifically for the left hand counter. But he's not a combination puncher unless he hurts someone.

Agree that Taylor loves to get in and trade but Prograis isn't a mug on the inside neither. Both have excellent Jabs and I can see this being very cagey as Prograis will wait to counter and Taylor will be wary of that.
Also will be interesting to see if Taylor switches to Orthodox at different points in the fight as I think Prograis can be quite open to a big straight right hand off the jab. Maybe Taylor will use the a lead right whilst in southpaw alot too.

He's not a mug on the inside, but he doesn't carry the same power threat as that left hand at range. He's very square with tough shots and shoulder punches up close. He does know how to create space with forearms etc but Taylor more explosive and compact inside IMO.

    Great fight

Taylor will show up, no doubt about it. He is tough and can trade if need be. Will be determined for the win.

Prograis has that quality where he could outbox Taylor. The best amateurs in the world used to time Taylor quite well. I could see a similar pattern in this fight.

When the going gets tough we don't know if Prograis will handle Taylor?

Will Prograis handle the pressure? Probably but not certain.

50/50 match up where I slightly favour Prograis.

Think Taylor’s grit and spite will see him win this.

I think that Prograis being the 'away' fighter will swing it marginally in Taylor's favour, along with the fact that Taylor really has got a nasty, horrible ****ing mean streak in him. Skill wise and power wise, this really is a 50/50 fight and for me has all the ingredients for a FOTY contender.

Taylor does need to engage intelligently though as already stated, Prograis is a top draw counter puncher and can certainly swat a bit. I think Taylor will look to outman Prograis fairly early to show who's boss but, that might cause him some problems so he has to revert straight back to boxing on the outside and dictate with the jab and launch short sharp raids to pick up the rounds.

Being that Prograis is the away fighter, Taylor needs to get control early, establish a lead and make Prograis a little desperate and walk him onto shots. Should be an absolute cracker and I narrowly favour Taylor for the win.

Suprisingly i think this is going to turn into a fire-Fight on the inside and whoever wilts first is done. Josh is not going to try and outpoint/outbox prograis it's not who he is.This fight is a guaranteed bloodbath and i can't wait!

I saw a recent interview with Progais where he was saying the same thing, he's not going in to box Taylor, he's going in to hurt Taylor because all the 'Scotland people' have píssed him off by saying he was a pùssy and trying to duck the fight. If he means it then that will play into Taylor's hands IMO. I have them very evenly matched when it comes to boxing ability but I do feel like Taylor is better equipped for having a scrap.

Simply can't wait, can't think of the last time I was so excited about an upcoming fight.

If they both box, then the fighter who ends up controlling the tempo will be the one who wins.
If they both go for the fight I'd edge towards prograis.
Taylor needs to look to counter the counter with combos from the start imo , he's good enough and fast enough to pull this off imo.
Prograis made mince.eat out of relikh, I was really impressed with Regis in that fight. But relikh didn't have much of a game plan to fight Regis, I fully expect TTT to come I with a good couple of gameplans.
At this point, I'm going with prograis, I'd like Taylor to win he's a fine technical boxer but prograis technique is there to knock people over and he's got some real momentum going atm ( Taylor also)
2 great fighters with great styles they've crafted for themselves. A real treat this fight.

Aye there is some needle there I think, but all for the right reasons, nothing personal in it. I think they've just became temporary enemies simply because they're now fierce rivals who are gonna fight each other and both believe they are the best.

This fight is boxing porn IMO.
