I don't think Chuvalo would beat Ruhlin, let alone Jeffries.

Jeffries had much faster hand and feet. Bigger and stronger, with a much longer reach.

Chuvalo could be viewed as a poor mans Jeffries.

There is no evidence of any of this. Faster hands and feet? Can you show me a clip of Jeffries' moving his hands and feet faster than Chuvalo?

Jeffries wasn't bigger. They were the exact same height and weight.

Stronger? Based on what? Chuvalo had a slightly higher KO percentage than Jeffries and Chuvalo knocked out 50 more men than Jeffries. How on earth did you get the idea Jeffries was bigger and stronger?

There is ZERO evidence Jeffries had MUCH faster hands and feet than Chuvalo and there is ZERO evidence he was bigger and stronger than Chuvalo.

    That is patently false.

And based on the actual film available of both, while Chuvalo was a basic boxer, he was a superior boxer than Jeffries, too.

I don’t have time now but Jeffries beat Corbett on his best performance. I told you he often ko’d he’s competition faster than those before him. Do I need to prove that and shame you further?

Mcvey you got to get off Sharkey. If you research you’d note Jeffries was green in the first fight and had an shoulder injury in round two in the second. Foreman and Liston carried lesser men than Sharkey the distance. That’s a fact. You’re s broken record on this topic.

The Sharkey Fitz fought the second time was a spent man who took a huge beating from Jeffries, Factv

Now wick go find a Marciano or Klitschko thread to yoke on. Hmmmm there is a pattern here :)

It's very tough to say, but with limited and poor footage we have I think that Jeffries showed better handspeed in his Ruhlin fight than Chuvalo. His left hook was quick and he could double it.

You can watch his training clips. Jeffries was noted for quick hands and athleticism . Chuvalo was not.

Plenty of evidence if you watch it research the papers.

Jeffries was bigger and stronger with a much better reach.

Chuvalo has 62 kos. Do you think this means he hit harder than others who had less? Like maybe Liston or Tyson or Dempsey? Of corse not. So why even bring it up?

I bring it up because Jeffries only has 16 KOs to Chuvalo's 64. Where is the evidence Jeffries was stronger in any way?

And Jeffries was NOT BIGGER. They were both 6 feet tall. They both weighed the same for fights.

Jeffries was noted for his QUICK hands AT THE turn of the century. We've seen those guys from the turn of the century. They weren't quick. Chuvalo fought in the era of Ali.

If Jeffries landed a five punch combination like Chuvalo did against Ramos (at the 58 second mark), the people at the turn of the century would've thought Jeffries was superhuman. There is no footage, training of otherwise, showing Jeffries punching like that. Jeffries didn't even hit a speed bag as fast as Chuvalo hit Ramos. And Chuvalo was average to slow for his era.

Joe Joyce throws a double left hook, and Joyce may have the slowest hands on the face of the earth. You don't have to be fast to throw one if the guy you're fighting is standing still.

Wait, guys like Corbett, Dempsey or Tunney weren't quick? Based on what? Do you really believe that people back then were slower than today?
So when we actually have some evidences of Jeffries speed it's irrelevant?

When did Jeffries fight Dempsey and Tunney? And Corbett battered Jeffries' face to a bloody pulp. Jeffries wasn't faster than Corbett.

And Corbett looks like a novice compared to later fighters ... and Jeffries apparently looked like a novice in his first fight with Corbett.

There's no basis to any claim that Jeffries was bigger, stronger or faster than Chuvalo. ZERO. None.

If Chuvalo had fought in 1905, we'd still be reading about this MONSTER puncher who was also the GREATEST FASTEST heavyweight to ever live ... who threw blistering, unheard of five-punch combinations.

In the 1960s, Chuvalo was a fringe contender. The sport evolves. Jeffries was a great pioneer. That's as far as it goes.

Throwing two left hooks against a statue is an "evidence" of his speed? (LOL)

Yes, when I think of Jeffries, SPEED is the first thing that comes to mind. Hilarious.

That's not true, the fight was competitive until Jeffries knocked him out. Corbett won more rounds but it wasn't a lucky KO. As far as I know, Jeffries didn't have any serious facial injuries in that fight, you probably thought about second Fitzsimmons fight.

That's true that Corbett was quicker than Jeffries and Corbett had unique boxing style that doesn't look optimal for modern fan. It doesn't change the fact that he was extremely quick. He can fight like a novice, but even novices can be very fast. Corbett was very fast, you'd know that if you watch footage.

Did Chuvalo actually ever fought at around 220 lbs? That's legit question, what was his optimal weight? I don't know much about him outside of his most famous fights.

There is even less basis to claim that Chuvalo was faster than Jeffries. You haven't seen Jeffries fights, so how can you know that he didn't use combos as well as Chuvalo?

Chuvalo weighed in the 220s for fights in the mid 60s and consistently fought in the 220s and up to 240 in the 1970s.

And I've seen all the Jeffries clips and training footage. He didn't have fast hands by any means or throw five-punch combinations.

Let me ask you, if Chuvalo fought the same fighters Jeffries did... who would you expect to beat him? Colorful writing is nice to laugh at these days, but do you really believe all you have read about Jeffries? People would write that a moving train couldn't KO Jeffries, and that no man before or since was the specimen Jeffries was.... None of which I believe for one second. What's more, that is only based on who they saw then and the info they had in front of them. We are well past that point. Do you believe the same hyperbolic writing about Jeffries would've taken place had these same writers seen fighters up to the 60's? He'd be a fringe contender at best. Let's be serious about this.
