And there are still people who think this isn't just about money Hearn and AJ's desperate attempts to bull**** their way around this total money-grabbing farce is hilarious.
Some good points, but i cant see him blowing it. When Douglas beat Tyson it was a shock, but i truly believe both would have been defeated by Holyfield anyway, no matter what shape they would have come in at. Douglas knew that Holyfield was a better "Fighter" than even a peak Tyson and basically surrendered... Ruiz will not fall into that category believe me, he will win this rematch and it will look like a complete mismatch.
Have we entered his 12 week VADA testing? Any evidence of him ever getting tested in Dubai, Jamaica, Oregon or Nigeria in his overseas camps?
The simple answer to everything you asked is I don’t know. He’s only been in Jamaica post Fight on holiday for a week. Nigeria I’ve only seen him there once that was after the Ruiz defeat. Dubai he’s been several times. Oregon I’m not sure. I’ll continue to post when he gets tested though and if he’s away at the time and where. In answer to the 12 weeks we are just outside it, that would begin Saturday but he’s enlisted in the WBC 365 day a year programme.
Maybe the buster Douglas situation was a bad, obvious, comparison. on a side not though, he came in to the Holyfield fight out of shape I believe, I don't think it was in his mind that Holy was better than Tyson etc, he was just there for the pay cheque. I guess Douglas was seen more as a no hoper before the Tyson fight, whereas Ruiz was a more solid contender before his fight with AJ. I hope you are right anyway, I am rooting for Ruiz and feel he has a good attitude. I just talking about that thing we cant know fully, how does it effect a guy like that, who came from nothing, to achieving his dream and rolling in money? will he still have that same drive to keep the status his has, or will it be dulled by the new success? At this point after hearing him in interviews I'd be inclined to think he is ok but it also wouldnt shock me if he came in woefully out of shape, enabling AJ to capitalise.
I guess in making the excuses they are dropping themselves in it, its easier to stomach the beating AJ took after the 3rd round if they say he was hampered in some way. They should have just kept quiet, nothing they say changes what happened in the fight, instead, the more time goes on, the more the excuses are coming. Letting AJ fight after getting knocked out in sparring doesn't help either, so the concussion stories just add to those rumours.
I’ve done a lot of charity work for Headway. What they do for people with acquired brain injury is just fantastic. Can totally understand their point. I said, a day or two after the fight that it should have been stopped by the ref from the 2nd knockdown. His legs were all over the shop from the 1st knockdown. He was in Narnia. I know some will accuse me of being a snowflake, but there is no chance of a concussion clearing up during a fight. The lights are on but nobody is home, as we could all see when he couldn't absorb the instructions in the corner and kept trying to throw hooks for the remainder of the fight before taking more needless punishment in the 6th and 7th which would have added serious mileage on the AJ clock. I reckon part of the reason Fury’s took them 2 soft touches is to stay relevant but also recover from the concussion from the Wilder fight. Just to add, imo December is too soon to jump back in a fight of the magnitude so soon after that last pummelling. He will be much more susceptible to concussion again from a temple shot.
yep this is the thing that makes me laugh with the Ruiz detractors saying he got a lucky punch, if they really think Ruiz wont land that type of punch again, with his height and style, they are in la la land.
I hear what you are saying regarding BD, and yeah he came in in terrible shape and can remember Gary Mason saying as soon as he saw him on the scales he knew he would lose, BD went in to the Tyson fight with lots of things on his mind, deaths and illnesses in the family, and he gave it his all and climbed the mountain, people emphasise too much on mike not being motivated etc etc. For the EH fight, the money he was getting was huge and he had climbed that mountain already and couldnt do it again sadly. Ruiz i believe wont have that problem, and to be fair to him he beat AJ quite easily despite the knockdown, nothing i see so far convinces me he cant repeat it, and will do it even quicker next time. If you look at him on the pads for the first fight, you could see the game plan right there, and during the fight you can see how he repeated it in the ring, and that was with a few weeks notice, this time with a full camp AJ should know already he is getting starched.
The statistics are on Ruiz's side in that the victor in the previous fight usually repeats the result quicker , there are always exceptions I.e. Lewis v Rahman . Unfortunately AJ has a couple of shortcomings ,which are I unlikely to be eliminated , in his chin and his cardio. It is unlikely that AJ's plan will be to get in a fire fight early with Ruiz so it's going to be a long range tactical job in the hope he doesn't run out of gas. I certainly wouldn't put a penny on him regaining the title.
Joshua 's never really had that opponent, who could take his power. I thought Miller would have did something similar if the fight took place. The bodybuilder s probably going to lean down in the rematch and go back to the basics. Judging from his Ronnie Coleman styled physique he probably spent too much time in his training camp doing heavy resistance training. You can tell from how rock solid he looked. He made that idiotic mistake thinking he could over power the blob and paid for it dearly. I do think Joshua will come in much lighter, and up the workrate. He didn't throw as many punches against Ruiz as usually does against other opponents.
