For Pound Podcast. To the question: “Who’ s hit you the hardest?" AJ has answeared: "Yeah, Klitschko."

“I was gonna say Ruiz, but when he hit me that was like a concussion on the back of my head.

    Is he right for you?

Everyone that's been knocked out before always names a person that "didn't" knock them out as the hardest puncher that they fought so you normally wanna take that type of declaration with a grain of salt.

In this case, Wlad is a monster hitter (one of the biggest ever) so I'm inclined to believe him.

Yeah, I was just gonna say that Mike Tyson once said in an interview that Razor Ridduck was the hardest puncher he ever faced.....and I'm pretty sure that was after Lewis KOd him

    Well to be fair,
Ruiz is not a hard puncher.
It was his fast hands & greased Lightning combos that gave AJ fitz.
It’s why he gave up & even though he was concussed from an accumulations of punishments. He couldn’t see the shots coming so he quit.

It’s actually good for his health that he did as Ruiz would have continued to maul him with out the power to clearly finish him.

Those types of situations / circumstances is how fighters suffer serious brain damage.

Ruiz knocked Joshua down with combinations, Klitschko did it with one clean punch and it was a heavier knockdown than the Ruiz ones.

Sort of like how Froch would probably say "not Andre Ward" if asked who the best boxer he ever faced was.

That one that klitschko landed was a great shot, AJ went down like a sack of potatoes

I agree with AJ on that punch from Ruiz, it bounces off the top of AJs head and then his balance goes

It's the same with Earnie Shavers. All of the big boys from the 1970s say he was the hardest hitter but they were never knocked out by him.

The whole difference is the number of punches received by him from either Wlad or Ruiz.
If Wlad would have landed that number of shots that Ruiz did, Joshua had been vast asleep and Wlad would have been a 4 time champion for sure.

It’s interesting watching Joshua- klitschko how Wlad seems so clueless about how to fight someone taller or the same height as him. It’s the same as Lewis with vitaly. Lewis or Wlad vs Ruiz and Ruiz loses easily. If you watch Lewis or Wlad, specially Wlad, when Joshua threw a right hand, Wlad just puts his hands out in front of his face and leans back. Normally that would be a great defence against a shorter fighter, but against Joshua who’s similar height, it’s terrible defense.

In a way Wlad/Lewis are one-trick pony’s. Style perfected for shorter smaller guys.

Back to thread, Wlad easily hit Joshua harder. Ruiz just outboxed him.

Nope, smaller guys gave Lewis the problems, big guys he absolutely destroyed, like demolished. Mercer Holy Mavrovic etc are all smallish guys that Lewis had problems with, never with big guys

Still the funniest thing in boxing ever was Froch raising his hand in anticipation as the winner was about to be revealed, lol it was the most embarrassing one sided fight in history, Ward took the clown to the cleaners.

Yes you can add Bowe to the list as well. In some ways these guys were bullies, they often had a 3-4 inch height advantage and 20-30lbs weight advantage. Size matters even in the heavyweight division.
