AJ names the hardest puncher he’s faced and it’s not Andy Ruiz Jr

Wlad was 42 vs Joshua. He fought well against tall fighters when he was younger.

 

Surprised the bodybuilder didn't say David Price. That ferocious plumber laid him out cold in sparring remember. Left him limpless on the ring matt carried into the medical room by Eddie Hearns goons.

 

Ruiz hurt him more with one punch it seemed. Or maybe it was Wlad not trying to finish that made it look that way. It just looked like Joshua never fully recovered from the first punch Ruiz hurt him with. So I'm not sure.

 

Probably was wlad tbf.

But god damn there is one straight right down the pipe that Ruiz caught Joshua with in the combo to send him down for the second time. Ruiz followed it up with another 3 or 4 but he probably would have went down anyway

 

However Wlad didnt hit harder than Wildr and "Swarovski chin" David Price.

 

Another thing is that Ruiz becomes totally void of any emotion during a fight. He’s the most happy go lucky person outside the ring, but when the bell goes he shows zero emotion.

Knocked down. Didn’t smile, flitch, wobble. While stalking didn’t speak, taunt or play mind games. That can f.uck with your head.

We all seen wlad visibly unravel. Whyte was full of emotion. Breazelle took his licks but was noticeably cowaring awaiting the next punch.

Ruiz got power and speed. Lethal combo! Cause it looked to he couldn't get away from the fuselage of punches coming at him.

 

This is true. Pacquiao has always maintained that Cotto and Margarito were the 2 biggest punchers he's ever faced and not Super Saiyan Roided Marquez.

I always to think he was just trying to discredit Marquez, but when I watch and hear the shots in the Cotto fight...

Wlad fought a ton of guys around his height. Pulev, Pianeta, Wach, Thompson, Williamson, McCline were all over 6'4. Just saying.

 

Exactly. Ruiz' speed clearly gives AJ fits because he's able to consistently engage him in firefights where AJ may have punched and withdrawn from a slower-handed fighter. His chin seems frankly amazing and that's a problem if you're a guy that's used to wilting guys when you land on them. Once Ruiz forces AJ to engage he follows him in to shorter range where his own stubby dimensions are optimal. AJ needs to develop light feet and fast, if he wants to beat Ruiz.

 

To be fair to Tyson, by the time he met Lewis in 2002, he was about 36 years old and he was way past his best and his resistance to punches was nowhere near what it was when he met Ruddock in 1991 and 1992. Watch the 2nd fight especially and Ruddock sure as hell hit him with some monster left hooks/uppercuts but Tyson was a lot more resilient then than he was at 36 against Lewis.
