Cleveland William's vs Dempsey would be one of boxing's most brutal, Dempsey and William's were 2 aggressive fighters with great left hand power, probably look alot like the firpo fight, William's would probably be a more competitive fight tho but I got Jack by knock out. Dempsey and lyle is a 50 50 fight in my mind
Two big lumbering contenders vs an ATG hwt champion. Smart money is on the proven ATG. Lyle could not beat Quarry. He is not beating Dempsey. Williams was a static target whom Dempsey will smother and take out quickly.
Dempsey never faced the combimatiom of skill, power, quicks and size that these two presented. And it was a rather common suspicion in some parts that Dempsey was afraid of the brothers after John Lester, so... Dempsey by duck x 2.
I think he starches both with very little trouble, but both hit so damn hard they're live underdogs if Dempsey gets sloppy. (Lyle knocked a Klitschko sized guy still as a stone with one right hand counter.) I'm not certain Dempsey wins, but I am certain he's better than some of the fighters who beat these guys.
Dempsey by knockout. My trainer was a long time sparring partner and friend of Lyle’s during the early to mid 70’s and always talks about how strong and how great a puncher he was, but I doubt even he’d pick Lyle over Dempsey. Lyle for all his strength was never good at pacing himself and Dempsey isn’t somebody he can just run over. I also don’t see Cleveland Williams beating Dempsey either and also see Dempsey knocking him out as well.
Dempsey wasn't exactly disciplined with his pacing either. And for the skill he would exhibit in parts, he would completely abandon everything when he got in brawl mode.
