Still toeing the party line. We've heard it all before. After he's beaten the world's no.118 he'll have a few months in the pubs in Leeds listening to his hangers-on telling him how good he is. Then he'll be about ready for his mandatory.
Agreed. It’s slightly reminiscent of Froch fighting Mack. It’s a garbage fight but after you’ve fought Pascal, Taylor, Dirrell, Kessler, Abraham, Johnson, Ward and Bute back to back you’re probably due a breather. Talk of Galahad is pointless. Horrible opponent, absolutely stunk the place out, already beaten him. Time for all involved to move on.
I'm not defending the next fight; it's absolute garbage. But he's just fought and beaten Selby, Frampton and Galahad. Of those three, two were action packed and entertaining, and one was cack. So to answer with a question, why would he want to have a rematch of a fight which was such an absolutely minging affair when there are better options for him? Might as well rematch Selby if he's going to fight anyone again.
Great point. Why rematch the guy who the majority think he lost to when he can fight a guy who is 2 weight divisions above?
Don't think the majority did think he lost. Some did, but so what? Galahad is a deeply boring drug cheat. Hard luck to him but if he wants to get big fights perhaps he should be less boring and not be a drug cheat and maybe he'd have a chance?
Warrington got a lot of TV and radio exposure in the build-up to his last fight. Only an idiot would think that he will get more attention and a bigger audience fighting Takoucht than if he rematched Galahad.
Exactly. You would think a drug cheat given a chance at redemption would've gone balls to the wall to salvage his rep if he was any kind of a man at all. He had his chance and he blew it.
His rep is a world class featherweight and he'll be back in the mix in no time. Warrington's not as daft as he looks. He did everything to swerve him and no wonder he wanted to fight that little Irish fella again.
Frampton still on top? I bet Eamonn Magee, Dave McAuley, Darren Corbett and Michael Carruth make up the top 5! "Never feature again". I know you're not as thick as your stereotype!
You miss the fact that I'm not defending the Takoucht fight, have already described it as 'garbage,' and haven't said that he wouldn't get more attention and a bigger audience rematching Galahad. Other than that, great post.
Warrington's team perhaps deserve credit for selling a fight against no.118 as a world title fight. They know 2018 was a perfect storm beating a boxer (so weight-drained he's moved up 2 divisions) on a split decision before easily beating the indisciplined Irish midget. The year ended on a high with talk of unifications and Vegas. Kid Galahad put a spanner in the works. First Warrington pulled out injured. Then, forced to fight him, he was relieved to come away with an undeserved split decision. History shows that his style of fighting has a short shelf-life at top level and Warrington will soon turn 29. His team need commending on protecting their fighter and not putting him in with anyone in the top 100. Then dropping the name of Lomachenko, knowing that the good folk of Leeds are stupid enough to lap it up.
How did Galahad put a spanner in the works? He lost? He also lost such a stinking fight that nobody wants to watch it again, thus putting a spanner in his own career if anything by virtue of being a no fans, boring drug cheat?
Wasn't Warrington heading to Vegas for unifications? After ducking and then mixing with Galahad he's not even fighting someone in the top 100. Team Warrington know their man needs protecting.
