My tin foil classed brain got thinking the other day. There is more than meets the eye with the Chisora Parker fight.

If you're anything like me, there will be a part of you that is still expecting Andy Ruiz to mess with AJ and Hearn. I expect a pull out due to injury.

Eddie will be aware of this possibility, or at least he should be.

Commence the winner of Chisora Parker.

He probably has a contingency fighter lined up as he showed when he pulled Takam out as a late replacement for Pulev. Not sure it will be a guy fighting on October 26th though, what if they're in a war? They won't be ready to fight early December.

Povetkin/Hunter/Price all rumoured to be on the card so far. Won’t be short of last minute replacements.

In usual circumstances I would agree with you. But I suggest you put yourself into a Edward Hearn Frame of mind.

Ruiz was a late replacement who entered camp at a similar time to whoever wins on the 26th would be, if they were to fight AJ in December.

The rest mentioned I believe are too dangerous as late replacement after what happened last time.

This there’s a reason why he’s putting at least one Heavyweight undercard fight on. Whyte or Hunter would be the replacements although it would be a terrible non event with no titles on the line. If Ruiz was to pull out early enough I’m sure they’d just scrap the show.

Only way that happens is if Ruiz relinquishes the belts. AJ is all about the belts it’s what gives him power at the negotiating table. If Ruiz pulls out I honestly expect AJ to go the Fury route and fight a tick over against someone like Hammer as his contract is still valid. Or fight Pulev for a vacant. No way he takes a risk with this next fight when he has a valid contract with Ruiz to get all his belts and status back.

Agreed. You can’t be taking risks with someone like Whyte or Hunter for no belts when the contract with Ruiz for all the belts is still valid. Far too much at stake.

Are you telling me you see chisora or Parker as a larger threat than whyte/Povetkin/Price.

Whyte, povetkin and Price have all famously slapped Femi about. Parker would get the same treatment from the ref as last time. Chisora is the only man listed that has no AJ story.

No I just don’t think they would take any of those fights when if Ruiz was to pull out the still have the contracted guarantee of the rematch. I think they take a very low risk in a semi exhibition bout. The same way Khan did with Billy Dib.

I think AJ would fight someone like Marco Huck or Junior Fa maybe Hughie Fury at a push and reschedule the Ruiz fight.

Why take the risk of a Parker fight. If he dies that and loses. He loses everything and will likely never get a shot at undisputed and never be the A side again I’m the big fights

Yeah that's a fair point mate, I mistook it earlier, I thought you was implying that it was more likely he would fight the likes of povetkin/Whyte/Price than Chisora or Parker.

Do you believe AJ would still sell for the amount the event requires it too , on the assumption that the information available is correct, AJ being paid anywhere from £40-60m fight purse, Ruiz I've heard from $8-30m, new venue being built, undercard fighters the money is beyond comprehensible but let's humbly say £100m.

Do you think the shareholders will really risk the event not really selling or doing just okay when it's supposed to be the new rumble in the jungle? 9/10 I would make you absolutely correct.

I think Hearn is deep in it and this may have been a desperate move. Personally I think AJ should forget about the belts for a while and just rebuild. He has come up against a prime fighter at elite level and lost, no big deal. It would be fun for the fans if he tried to fight for all the belts again after a few fights. Against Ruiz or not.

I think no matter what this event is definitely on, but I don't think it will definitely be against Ruiz, I hope it is. But I don't think Hearn will get away with dropping a stinker. I don't think it's impossible that chisora or Parker aren't at the lowest tier of boxing levels that they could get away with selling. I find it highly unlikely they will cancel an event they are building a arena for.

I agree to some extent. I think personally there will be some sort of agreement that AJ would take a lesser purse to fight a tick over in Saudi. Similar to what Khan did against Billy Dib. I heard Khan got £4m for that fight. So my guess would be they would be happy to pay him around £10-20m to fight smartly chosen opponent. With the guarantee the rescheduled Ruiz fight is in Saudi for all the originally agreed contracts.

We have to remember that these events are not about profit to the Saudis it’s about painting the country in a positive light and they have a bottomless pit of money. This way they get two AJ events and he and Hearn get major money.

I agree that AJ should rebuild. Just not sure he is in a position to. He is currently the best marketed boxer probably in the world being champ likely doubles his endorsement income and puts him in a powerful A side position for the likes of Wilder.

If he doesn’t take this fight it’s pretty much nailed on that Ruiz would fight Wilder atleast twice for the WBC WBA and IBF belts. PBC will get him to vacate the WBO as they don’t get on and the. PBC will keep those belts i house and not give a AJ any of those fights for the foreseeable future. They already don’t recognise Crawford as a welterweight champ. Same thing would happen to AJ unless he signs with PBC which he can’t do as he’s under contract.

Fury would then fight for the vacant WBO and if he wins that due to Arum and warrens relationship with them he would fight mandatories like Wallin and Jarrell Miller until they can build the Fury vs Wilder fight bigger and effectively I think AJ and Hearn know if he doesn’t win the he will likely be frozen out of the big fights for atleast 2-3 years.

Lol at famously slapped him about, he knocked Whyte & Povetkin out and if you seriously think Price beats him you are insane.

I had doubts about the rematch and it dragged on too long before finally settling, but to pull out now would be both sadistic and masochistic on Haymon / Ruiz's part. Dubai (human rights issues aside*), are trying to improve their image through sport and have spent mega money to get this on.

Edit; not "aside". Very much at the fore-front.
