Hes currently fighting in the world championships, despite having fought twice this year as a pro. I dont really see the point. Why not just focus on his pro career?
A lot of Uzbeks are doing this. I’m not sure why it’s such a trend amongst their team as a whole, but for Jalolov I’m guessing it’s becuase he has yet to achieve a world championship or Olympic gold. He’s incredibly gifted and I can’t wait for him to go fully into the pro ranks though, as evidenced by his performance at the world championships today. I hope Torres is ok, that was a bad bad KO.
Why he he messing around in the WSB? Well, it could be due to his development as the talent in the WSB is better than the first 10 or so fighters a professional usually faces. Just a guess. Jalolov is very talented. My question is he tough enough, as he often didn't like the rough stuff in the AM's...but that was a few years ago. Could be one of the champions. Can't we fast forward away from the bum title fights that Wilder and Fury are giving us and see some real fights vs the up and comers?
Better competition in the amateurs, more glory for you and your country in the amateurs. Some fighters love the sport and aren’t that motivated by the politics and circus of the pro game just to build some hype and make a couple of dollars beating up bums. What really is the point of turning pro and knocking over 20 bums before you get a title shot? I think many fighters lose their passion for the sport and their sharpness by the time they get there, so competing in the amateur game with top competition is a good way to keep the fire and the skills up.
I think it's farcical seeing a bloke who is campaigning as a professional in North America compete for & win the World Amateur Championship. Don't get me wrong. He's very talented & I look forward to following his progress as a professional, but we don't need North American-based professional boxers competing with amateurs at the World Amateur Championships. It's ridiculous. They should have booted him out of the tournament & re-matched Frazer Clarke with the Russian in the semi-final in that half of the draw.
Well, the word "amateur" implies that you are NOT a pro. Isnt it? I will not ask for common sense in a world who ****s logic everyday with things way worse than that. But it's pretty obvious to me that if you are a pro, you cannot be a amateur.
His mobility and power is excellent, as his his size. No doubt! He's also strong in a clinch or on the push off to break. He's a bit tougher than he was in the Olympics, but something is off as he's letting smaller men pressure him. Usually when you are that big and hit that hard, guys respect you! Not the case in the two fights I saw with Jalolov. I can't quite put my finger on as to why. He likes to use his leg to get out of the way when his fists would prevent them from advancing. He would be better served using a 1-2, and developing a counter mid range hook to make the agressive forwarding moving type thing twice. Chin is good. A top pro prospect for sure, but he has to iron out something to go all the way as a pro.
