Yeah, It really is considering most boxing fans do not think he won either fight with GGG, I am not one of them, I have the series 1-1. So why shouldn't he get in the ring with GGG one more time and get a convincing win to seal the deal? That is a cowardly statement from a PED user who doesn't deserve respect.

I also have it 1-1, and we’ve seen that Canelo is clearly superior. He wins rounds when he wants to, GGG wins rounds by default when Canelo takes his breaks. Canelo is getting better and more consistent, GGG is looking slower and doesn’t have the skills of Canelo. I enjoyed both fights but that battle is clearly over, Canelo is the better man. The second win was convincing and GGG would just be cashing out with another Canelo fight. Canelo wants to fight and make history, he’s taking on Kovalev. I think he’ll beat Kovalev but that’s a bigger and better challenge than a third fight with GGG could ever be.
I’m a hardcore boxing fan and I really enjoyed those two fights, yet I have no desire to see the third fight. The more casual fan isn’t going to care at all, especially since GGG and his fearsome reputation have been diminished so much by this point. GGG needs to do something, get some highlight knockouts and win a title to make the third fight interesting again.
It’s ridiculous considering all this to criticise Canelo for not wanting that third fight. It’s dead, unless GGG spectacularly changes his trajectory (I don’t expect him to, I think he’ll get beaten in his next fight or win a close decision).

I agree that GGG Is slowing down but no way is Kovalev a better challenge than GGG could ever be IMO. Kovalev Is shot, a dead man walking. I believe Canelo wins by TKO somewhere between 8-10 rounds. Canelo has not proven anything against GGG considering the majority of fans think he lost both fights, so why does GGG need to change his trajectory to get a third fight and how has his fearsome reputation been tarnished?

I have it 2-0 to GGG and I see it the other way. Canelo had to fight out of his skin to win rounds and when Golovkin was told to turn up the heat he swept the second half of the fight and really lit Canelo up. Canelo is flashier, yes, but GGG has a higher baseline from which to work from.

Kova isn't shot, but he's nowhere near the force he was in his prime, either.

Canelo is clearly shitting his pants at the thought of a third fight with Golovkin. Before they ever embarked on their fights, there was a total buzz over "hey there could be three fights, a trilogy" coming especially from Canelo's camp. After the second fight which most people thought Golovkin won (again) Canelo literally would rather sit on his hands and fight NOBODY than fight Golovkin again. He basically was ready to throw his DAZN contract in the trash than face a repeat. After Oscar said GGG and Canelo would fight in 2020, Canelo basically said that Oscar talks too much.

I see Canelo waiting until Golovkin needs a walker to get around before taking a third fight. 2021? MAYBE.

Kovalev is a title holder at light heavy, he still has knockout power and a reputation. I think Kovalev is shot, but he isn’t as shot as GGG is and he has a prize attached to him. The boxing books don’t care if Canelo beats GGG again, they do care if he beats Kovalev.
I don’t care what most fans think, most people don’t know boxing and have an agenda when scoring.
He’s lost his reputation because he hasn’t had knockouts (against legit comp), and has clearly slipped. Without knockouts and titles then what is he?

Whenever Canelo was active he won the rounds (like in most of his fights). GGG is slow and can only get work in by pumping his jab and staying consistent to take rounds when Canelo rests. In two fights we haven’t seen GGG outbox Canelo. I thought that GGG was a better boxer than what he showed in those fights. I scored the first fight for GGG but I thought he had an off night and could turn it around in the rematch to beat Canelo convincingly. That obviously didn’t happen, GGG gets hit at will and looks painfully slow. GGG has nothing but a baseline, Canelo has gears.

Golovkin needs a walker now, that’s why it’s a pointless fight.

And that's the crux.Canelo looks great for 60 seconds of a round but then he's exhausted and loses the rest of the time. He's got no consistency and when GGG turns it up has all sorts of problems.

What I’m saying is that GGG doesn’t turn it up, Canelo slows down. That’s why we know that Canelo is the better fighter, making the third match pointless. Which is completely different to what I believed going into the first fight, I thought that GGG was more skilled. I was wrong, Canelo settled it and it’s time to move on.

Personally I would love to see GGG make the move up and chase other fights.

Yes he will feel hard done by, but he isn't getting any younger.

He's not a huge middle weight, but i don't see any reason why he couldn't challenge someone like Smith and if he beats him, then make a move to LHW and become a 3 weight champion.

A 3rd fight would be nice as they are 1-1 according to any impartial viewer, but Canelo beats him even clearer than he did second time round.

Fighting GGG a 3rd time is a easy money compared to Kovalev, respect to Canelo for skipping it to instead move up and fight the best LHW in the world. The man has balls the size of coconuts.

I don't care either way, I'm just telling you what I think will happen. I was a fan of GGG when he was wrecking guys, but I think we can see why he has avoided the elites and refused to move up (despite calling out everyone from 154-168).
