No, Marciano was a wizard... quick as lightning, intricate and completely original with every engagement.
Listen, Seamus. I know you are not a big fan of Marciano. Quite frankly, I do not have him in my top 10 heavyweights, either. But, he is unquestionably a great fighter. Pulev just isn't a special fighter. Size can mean a lot. But, sometimes the smaller man can win. Pac was significantly smaller than De La Hoya when he kicked the **** out of him. And, the gulf in skills between Pulev and Marciano is far wider. As far as I can tell, the only highlight that includes Pulev is the highlight reel knockout he suffered against Wlad.
Kubrat Pulev by early round KO. You know why? Because Pulev is a heavyweight and Marciano was a 180 pound cruiserweight.
Marciano would pummel him until he fell. Maybe it gets to the later rounds, but the outcome wouldn't be in doubt.
This. Kubrat would’ve struggled to be a top 10 heavyweight in the 50’s. Walcott and Moore would’ve crushed Pulev long before he ever got a chance to fight Marciano. Even a 37 year old Joe Louis would decision Pulev, who stands like a statue and constantly drops his hands and has no inside game. Shkor was better than Pulev, but got dropped like a sack of potatoes when Marciano landed a flush right hand on him.
a solid contender isnt someone who gets beat up by a 43 year old waiting till hes gassed to stop him. And thats his best win. A solid contender is someone who enters a title eliminator with someone prime and world class. Poolev was mediocre as a pro, but good as an am. A Fraduley Harrison of the east.
Imagine calling someone who reaches world level rubbish. You are so out of touch with the real boxing world. You live in a fantasy boxing world and have never stepped into a boxing gym. Pulev is in the 1% of people who box and reach world level and make big money. You just don't get it because you are clueless. You don't know about actual boxing, the inside of the ropes stuff. You might know about history, stats and records but actual BOXING is foreign to you. Calling world level pros rubbish when kids all over the world are grafting away in gyms and the majority will never reach world level. But your clueless washed up self is so out of touch you don't know this. You don't know what you are watching. Boxers and people who box will never respect people like you. Idiot.
Which fights have you seen of Shkor's to form this opinion? Shkor had won 3 of his last 11 fights when he faced Marciano. In his previous fight he was ko'd in under 2 minutes by Walcott. In short he was a journeyman. Top ten ranked heavies of the 50's include Coley Wallace no10.53 Jimmy Slade no 10. 54 Young Jack Johnson no 7.55 Charley Norkus no 9.54 Dan Bucceroni no3 .53 Heinz Neuhaus no8.52 Johnny Williams no10.51no6.52 Karel Sys no 5.51 Jack Gardner no8. 50 Don Cokkell no2. 54 I don't think Pulev woud struggle that much with them.
I've seen 4 or 5 of Shkor's fights. I've seen a clip of the Marciano fight, parts of his fight with Big Sandy Mcpherson, and his exhibitions with Joe Louis. Even though its been about 20 years many of Joe's exhibition fights might still be archived at my high school (Birmingham High School), since we had a giant film library at the school, which had a ton of footage for the WW 2 period. I've never seen footage of him fighting Walcott, but several of my teachers, who were also sailors during WW 2 and knew Shkor well were at the fight. Also, in a division with only 1 world title Pulev would also be a journeyman and out of that list Norkus would beat the tar out of Pulev. Pulev's defense would get him killed. I don't know if you've ever seen Pulev's fight with Zack Page, but he had some trouble with him, but I haven't seen the fight on youtube for quite a while.
Any person who makes a threat about Marciano beating any modern sized heavyweight should be banned from this forum.
You also realize Manny Pac was on steroids and past his prime. You also realize Marciano didn't have any skills. You also realize Pulev never lost to a 180 pound fighter in his career.
