Why didn't GGG think of fighting Kovalev, or something similar?

He seems to think he's an equal draw, aren't there much better ways to spend the twilight of his career than chasing the ghost of Canelo?
Seems to me theres a bit of entitlement on the part of GGG

These Eastern European fighters avoid each other like the plague as they know the damage they could inflict on each other........

Because Kovalev didn't get a bent decision over him and then strut around like he just laid an egg.

Serious question do you hold other greats at 160 to the same standard as you do of GGG?

I mean fighters like Monzon, Hagler etc who never moved up.

GGG is a MIDDLEWEIGHT He, in all fairness is the REAL
Undefeated World Middleweight Champion. He's challenged the bogus champion, Clenelo to a fair fight, straight down the middle no Vegas & NSAC corruption fight.
What does Clenelo do?? State " I am not fighting GGG again I beat him twice Oscarina & Uncle Bob said so"
ROFLMAO I doubt Juiced up Ginger could ever make 160 again anyway LEGALLY!!!!!!!!

You know the answer to that question. Of course he doesn’t.

Also, two EE fighters would not be a big draw. You need a little variety to sell this type of fight. Canelo is a huge draw so he can fight anyone he chooses (Beefy Smith, Khan, they scrub SMW he just fought, etc). Honestly, this fight is less interesting to me than Canelo unifying at 160. I want to see him fight Andrade, Charlo, etc, and fight GGG a third time at a neutral site (not LV). Would also like to see Canelo fight BJS. That would be an interesting contrast in styles.

Even if he beats Kov, these fights outside of fighters natural weight are rarely good. People will pay to see it so I’m in the monitory. I like real boxing, not circus acts and hype shows.

A question for @Oakland Billy Smith

Do YOU believe that Canelo will fight the winner of Beterbiev v Gvozdyk or a Bivol if he beats Kovalev?

Surely if he was to do this it proves it’s not a fight in which he’s “picking” on an old, slipping fighter as slot of people think.

    Serious answer:
I hold both Monzon and Hagler a full notch BELOW Hopkins who did move up...
But the point of my question was that GGG is chasing Canelo while is moving on to bigger and better challenges...

That's a little harsh no? I'm sure he would have wanted to fight better opposition in his early career, but didn't have the opportunity. But I agree, he would want no parts of Kov.

Had he wanted, he would have done it. I'll fight anyone from 154 to 168. Remember? I'm still waiting.

EDIT: he fought Brook, maybe it's that what he meant.

Because Golovkin wanted the Canelo cash cow.

    Now Kovalev wants it.

These guys are prizefighters. Canelo brings the prizes.

You think it's that easy to get picked up by HBO? You think GGG wanted to fight for peanuts in Germany over fighting for millions on HBO?
