Kovalev is no longer a serious train hard type of guy. He used to be that and a sulky guy. Now he's working on his media image. Who wouldn't smile for 15-20 million?

A very interesting fans fight, I think Kovalev's longer jab and in and out style combined with his power can win here as he's not easy to counter. He just has to watch out for body shots and make sure he wins round beyond the judge's baised margin of error.

3-4 years ago, he would have stopped Canelo who has proven to have a very good chin. The decision might stink, but I'm not watching this fight for the decision results.

Just because there isn't a heel and babyface in this fight doesn't mean corruption is at hand. Banelo isn't the type of fighter that get's under his opponents skin. No animosity in the pre-fight buildup means squat.

Is it really Kovalev fans bitching or just sour grapes Golovkin fans not being able to stand Canelo and come up with every excuse imaginable on why any opponent Canelo lines up is a cherry pick???

What do Kovalev and GGG have in common leading up to a fight with Canelo?

Both are over 35 years of age, both are significantly past their prime and both have shown evidence of this deterioration in their previous fights.

…...and both are still capable World Champion caliber fighters capable of beating anyone on a given night.

The fact that Kovalev in on the downward slope of his career is what makes Canelo-Kovalev an interesting matchup.

Kovalev is bigger and stronger with a high boxing pedigree. Lets not forget he outboxed Andre Ward both times, outboxed him, so even though he may not be in his prime, the fact that Canelo is moving up all the way to 175 lbs, offsets the fact Kovalev is on the downward slope.
Great matchup and the right fight for Canelo at this point in his career.
Nobody that knows anything about boxing can say Kovalev doesn't have a chance, because certainly he has a legit chance to beat Canelo.

Man, you cannot blame canelo for gg being 35. If not for canelo gg would be rematching brook or trying to fight cotto. Canelo arrived to MW when he arrived, and he fought the boogeyman. Now he goes to LMW, ok, there are better fighters than kovalev in LMW now imho. But kovalev is not izi pizi, and less for someone coming from MW.

Well Canelo doesn’t want the trilogy and GGG is fighting Derevyanchenko.....so that’s another fail on your part.

And your second fail is that Kovalev is a LH not a LM.

because deveriachenko is more dangerous than kovalev, isnt it?

Why dont gg fight kovalev? Let me guess., because he dares to be great fighting a 13-1 deveryachencko who already lost to jacobs, isnt it? ok, everything makes sense in your imaginary world.

Never said that but my point still stands Canelo doesn’t want the trilogy, he doesn’t want to go to that place again, plus he knows he can’t get away with another robbery.

I see a ton of comments relating to the size difference and praising Canelo for taking such a high risk fight and yes there is a size difference, but let's not forget the fact that Canelo walks around somewhere between 175-180lbs. I am also surprised at how much credit Kovalev is receiving regarding how much he has "left in the tank". Kovalev Is not half the fighter he was against Ward and was nearly knocked out in his last fight by a guy who supposedly doesn't even spar in training camp. He has a jab and still has some power, other than that he is slow with questionable stamina and cant take it to the body. There is a reason Canelo is a massive favorite and he will get the TKO between the 8th and 10th round.

Clenelo actually weighs 178-180 on fight night, Kovalev weighed 180 and 182 for his last 2 fights.
