Nothing. I believe McGrain is actually a fan of Liston. He stated this in reference to Choklab's attempts to discredit Liston whenever and wherever he can. Actually I believe he stated his intention to coming to this forum was to undermine Liston. He must really love the guy.
I could certainly pick 12 fighters after the Rosario fight that had higher punch stats the Camacho had from that fight up till the end of his career.
Markant. As many have already stated, your negativity is sad. You are entitled to your opinions obviously but Jesus, talk to someone... other than us. People find different things exiting. What you call a boring counter puncher is something a lot of people find it entertaining. If your only talent is trying to bring people down, your life will not bring you happiness.
I am always disappointed in these favorite-fighter lists because it seems like everybody picks famous fighters. Don't you have any lesser known favourites who you took a fancy to when you first started watching boxing? I grew up in an era when there were less famous local fighters who were favorites in their own communities. I guess that's a thing of the past, at least in the United States, unless of course you live in cities where live boxing flourishes like Las Vegas, New York, or Philadelphia. I would also read in Ring Magazine and Boxing Illustrated about tough-luck fighters who almost made it but fell short. I challenge patrons of this post to include in their lists lesser known local fighters who have tickled their fancy -- favorites for whatever personal reasons you may have. One thing about basing a list on personal favorites is that you don't have to justify your decisions. My all-time list of favorite fighters might vary a little bit from day-to-day, but today they are (not in any particular order): 1) Eddie Cotton 2) Jock Malone 3) Lee Savold 4) Bobby Hicks 5) Boone Kirkman 6) Harry (Kid) Matthews 7) Billy Petrolle 8) Mike Gibbons 9) Doc Snell 10) Larry Buck 11) Tiger Jack Fox 12) Tod Morgan
I put Joey Hughes, who I've met personally and has one hell of a story (can only really use his left properly due to a birth disability). He was robbed of being a European champ IMO. I root for him and follow all his bouts.
1) Nigel Benn 2) Marco Antonio Barrera 3) Floyd Mayweather 4) Mike McCallum 5) Riddick Bowe 6) Ezzard Charles 7) Kevin Kelley 8) Wayne Alexander 9) 'Smokin' Bert Cooper 10) Marvin Hagler 11) James Toney 12) Kid Gavilan Apart from the top 2 not really in order and a lot of guys who missed the list I didn't like leaving out such as Erik Morales and Gary Mason, a couple on there that are certainly not ATG's or even HOF'ers.
Lol I thought for sure someone was going to say “Byrd wtf”? On my list. Many found him boring as hell but i love the defense.
