Well sadly the winner of Benavidez vs Dirrell will have to make a mandatory defense against Yildirim. As for Smith, looks like he will face John Ryder in November.
Benavidez is fighting Dirrell, nothing wrong with this fight, just a stay busy fight so he isn't rusty.
Would you rather him be rusty and take time off? If Caleb is ducking someone he definitely deserves ****, but everyone is busy atm, he's waiting for the Dirrell/Benavidez winner.
Benavidez vs Planet is actually one of my favorite fights to be made. But I agree it's pretty weak if Dirrell can be a champ at this part of his career.
That actually pisses me off, I'm a huge fan of Ryder, and I was really looking forward to seeing him fight Eubank Jr. which was being rumored. Not only is that a winnable fight for John, he should have been seen as the favorite. As far as this match goes, maybe if you can get on the inside and work the body of Smith, he might have a chance, but Callum will probably keep him at the end of his jab and probably knock him out late. I really don't want to see John's great run as of late get derailed, I've been enjoying the hell out of it.
