I feel the 90`s were an overrated decade in boxing, there weren`t many decent body punchers, I can name McCallum and Chavez, can anyone name 5 other noted body punchers from that decade?

Tyson rose in the 80`s not in the 90`s where he picked up his first losses and started head hunting too much, Roy`s body shot v Virgil was impressive though.

I didn`t know Benn and Mercer were good body punchers, but Benn did land a lot of counter uppercuts to Eubank`s body in their rematch though.

Benn was an awesome body puncher. See his chopping of Piper, had him peeing blood for a week.

McClellan scored about 10-12 ten-counts with a left hook to the body, the best I've seen.

Tyson's right hook to the body and right uppercut has to be one of the best combo's in boxing history.

Chavez, Duran, Barrera, Oscar, Hatton, Ward, Castillo, Mayweather, McCallum, Eubank (see Rocchigiani fight), Jones Jr (Wolfe, Hill), Pernell, Lopez

Rocchigiani was wide open to the body because elbows were held too high while he covered up. Duran wasn`t a good body puncher in any of his fights during the 90`s while he was in his 40`s. Tyson didn`t stop anyone in the 90`s with his fearsome right hook to the body followed by the right uppercut. McAClellan`s body punching wasn`t effective v Benn.

Rocchi's elbows were tucked in tight as usual, from the peek-a-boo - it was Eubanks accuracy getting through a glove sized gap!

Tyson won the title with it.

McClellan hit Benn with a left hook to body in the 3rd that Benn said left him feeling electrocuted on the spot but he had to call him back in and pretend he wasn't hurt because if G-Man hit him there again he knew he'd be down. Wasn't effective? Benn was stuck in the bath and shitting blood, from one McClellan body shot. Benn wasn't a normal human or normal fighter!

Completely baseless post. Boxers rarely get remembered for quality body work.

Little known fact for young fellers like you Mark who were either born this century or like you, instutionalized; during 8 of the 9 yrs of the 90s the Mr. potatoHead desease swept the globe. It had its origin in Ireland where potatoes were allowed to rot due to overabundance of whiskey. By 92, 35% of the world was infected. Heads swoll until hats and braces broke and fell off. A man named Sir Jim Plunkett was the first carrier to come to America on a raid. Some men women children and even those of yr sex mark had no neck visible as their chin sat above their navel. This greatly affected body punches because where before you would hit the liver now you were hitting the ear.
For yrs this went on until a little known doctor experimenting in Pablo Escabars coca factory discovered blow would force the extra fluid out of the engorged head. The flacid cabesa would then shrink to normal and mankind was saved. But beware Mark of potatoe whiskey. If you eatdrink it have some blow ready for a friend to administer in case your head becomes engorged once more. Due not attrmpt to rub the liquid out in yr spare time. Have a friend blow it for you and allow the coca to do its job.

Good point. I don't know why I even bother to read Mark's posts. He already thinks he knows everything even though all he knows of this sport is from watching youtube videos. For what it's worth I think all of the fighters you listed were excellent body punchers. The fact that Mark disagrees proves you are correct.

I was there when Benn fought Piper and the sickening thuds to poor Piper's obliques echoed in a packed Alexandra Palace

Also some early Hatton fights and the way he stepped around the side of an opponent to hook behind elbow when they covered up was a thing of beauty, seeing his feet up close
