Why didn't GGG think of fighting Kovalev, or something similar?

He declined when he moved up to 175 years later. He didn't decline when he was at 168 and GGG was on that 168-154 and down stuff, GGG wanted no smoke then.:risas3::risas3: GGG said Froch and JCC Jr I'll fight you at 168 but you Ward no 164 for you. What kind of ***** move is that? You know damn well why he did that and it's because he knew damn well that Ward would have beaten him up and gave him a boxing lesson exposing him. Ward pulled GGG's hoe card.

"At our meeting with HBO they asked us whether we are ready to box. You know our answers - I said yes, you said no. You said something about your shoulder or promoter - I'm not interested in the reason, I only heard your "no." But you remember that HBO said then that they would need a long time to build-up the fight. Then what the **** are you talking about excuses?"

Sometimes you are wilfully dense. Let's put it a different way:

Let's imagine Floyd said that he'd beat GGG up and Golovkin said "OK, at 160 and we split the money in half." Do you think Floyd would go for that? If not, why not?

Except that Ward made 168 for his entire career and then declined to do so for Golovkin. Yeah, yeah, I know. He couldn't move down to 168 for a GGG clash because of all the imaginary fights he was going to have after Kovalev

What years did Ward actually want 3G? Ward was out for a couple of years w/ injury/promoter stuff. So when Ward came back, he was at LtHW. So when was Ward actively trying to fight 3G?

A lot of people get bigger and badder in their minds when they are no longer in the game.

You people thinking Canelo chose this fight for any other reason than he believes Kovalev is damaged goods...are slow on the uptake. Also do you really believe he's gonna live up to his blood and fight Kov like a true Mexican warrior? If Canelo finds out that Kov isn't as shot as he hopes he is...he's gonna be on his bike all night looking for that seemingly inevitable Golden Boy decision.

Your recollection is a bit different than mine. Are you talking about the Ward who had no hope of making 168 when he issued the challenge and had to fight at 175? The guy who got a gift decision in the first fight and needed several dirty low blows against a faded champion to win the second? The guy who scurried out of boxing rather than fight the other younger challengers and defend his belt at his true weight, 175? That guy? Wasn’t Ward a LH in the amateurs? Are we supposed to give him a bravery award for finally fighting at his natural weight - even if it was only two fights versus a faded champ?

GGG ruled the MW division for years - a major division not one that didn’t exist decades ago. He didn’t rely on hometown decisions or dirty tactics like Ward. I’ll remember GGG as a much better champion but you are certainly entitled to your opinion. If we all agreed on everything, it would be much less fun.

Yep, Mexicans are rabid boxing fans, some of the most loyal in the business. It makes sense to have a Mexican as the face or one of the faces of boxing. Canelo is a solid fighter and he brings a lot of interest and $$$ to his fights. I doubt he will ever have the same position in history as some of the Mexican greats who preceded him, like the great JCC, but he’s a very good all-around boxer and he keeps getting better.

All GGG wanted was a level fight with Clenelo with no corruption. He never got it He got the shaft TWICE!!!!
Canelo hasnt got the balls to give him a level fight He must have the NSAC & Vegas boxing making sure he cannot lose

Tom Loeffler admitted that team Ward sent them an offer to fight... and without even an attempt to negotiate, K2/Golovkin turned it down flat.

The idea that Golovkin doesnt own a part of the blame for that fight not taking place is revisionist history.

He should probably call out ward and try to lure him outta retirement. At least then, by doing that he somewhat kept his word by fighting anyone from 154-168, though we still know he's ducked plenty of fighters on his rise..

It's called ggg is fooling ppl like you into believing he really wants to fight ward.

Explain to me this? Why ggg all of a sudden finally agree to fight ward at 168 pounds limit 2 years later when he knows ward is a full fledge 175 pound light heavyweight fighter?
