My choice would be Edison Miranda, I remember watching him on HBO and hearing about his story. Growing up an orphan and in poverty in Colombia, he searched for his mother, than found her but she rejected him. Plus a fan friendly fighter with a lot of power, but just fell a little short and never was a world champion, he did hold a couple minor belts. Said his goal was to be a champion to the homeless children.
He hasn't fought in a few years, I hope he's doing well, most boxers sadly aren't.

    Joey Hughes.

He's come through so much in boxing today, and should really be a European champion IMO. Having a world title would change his life. He's a ****ing awesome bloke. European level with basically one arm. He never gives in and always gives a very good account on himself.

If I had a second choice, though, it would probably be Black Bill, who lost his only title shot to an ATG whilst losing his eyesight badly. He eventually committed suicide. With a championship, he would've atleast made money and be more fondly remeberd by the boxing community.

I wish Ken Norton had won a world title by winning officially the Third Ali fight. I think he deserved the nod. I like Norton a lot and I think it's a little unfair that he only became heavyweight champion when WBC stripped Leon Spinks of his title.

Armando Muniz - robbed blind of his opportunity to wear the crown in his first shot at the title against Jose Napoles. Highly competitive and just wouldn't let go in 3 subsequent title shots. But it was a disgrace what they did to him in Acapulco in his first shot at Napoles.

Howard Davis Jr. Lived locally, all around good man from what I'd seen and heard probably the most skilled boxer in the history of boxing to have never win a legitimate World Title . Watched him so many times on tv the late 70's throughout the 80's. Gifted, fighter. Just didnt have the fire power to dissuade anyone from walking him down and wearing him out ( Possible effects of the vegan diet he adopted in the 70's it certainly didn't help him live a very long life since he died in his late 50's) But all around good man.

Benny "the Tipton Slasher" Yanger and Leo Houck because they're 2 of my favorites to never win a title

Randall Tex Cobb because of the pure chaos that'd ensue with those quips being champ

Sam Langford and Packey McFarland because they deserved it moreso than anyone else and, had they gotten a fair shot, no doubt remains in my mind that they would've succeeded

What a great choice! Came back from raging substance abuse to come so close against Pinango and seemed like a super likeable and humble guy. I remember rooting against Davila when they fought and was thrilled he got that career topper, although Davila is another guy who is difficult to dislike too and may deserve a mention here as well.

How about Craig "Gator" Bodzianowski for the Cruiserweight title?
Yaqui Lopez would be another sentimental favorite for me.

True, although Davila did eventually win a title.

But yeah, spot on about Duarte. Heartbroken when Pinango won. Still haven't seen the fight, just remember reading it was a bad decision.
