#1 Golovkin : when ggg fist hit the scene there was alot of hype around him many of his fans swore he could stop heavyweights. GGG was avoided alot by his fellow boxers and no one dared stepped in the ring with him. GGG was a murderous puncher fighting the lesser competition. However he was soon exposed by Jacob's and showed what a super middleweight in andre ward would of done to him
Then golovkin had 24 rounds to try and stop a jr middleweight in canelo Alvarez
The Kazakh monster power had been exposed
Both fights were close and could of gone either way

Golovkin won the first one and canelo the second one in my opinion. Golovkin ended being backed the smaller man
Golovkin has always liked targeting. Old shot Martinez, small cotto and smaller canelo alvarez
GGG loved chasing and fighting smaller men indeed
#2 Errol Spence jr. While I'm a fan of Spence.
When Spence just like golovkin hit the scene there was alot of hype surrounding him when Spence was just a contender after his fight with Chris Algieri Many die hard Spence fans had started putting spences name up there with canelo and floyd Mayweather.
Spence fans loved the idea of Spence beating someone like canelo . Spence just like ggg was avoided like ggg by his fellow boxers and his power was overrated as well
Spence could not stop mikey and porter who many hyped that Spence would stop
Spence just like ggg loves fighting smaller fighters
    Targeting pac ,porter and mikey

    #3 Gervonta davis
This guy has been fighting cab drivers since day one. He keeps on avoiding loma and didnt even unify against farmer.

    #4 Canelo
While he is moving up attempting to be great it's no secret that canelo has had many controversial fights dating back to 2013 on the scorecards
    Suspicious scorecards. with
Trout , Lara, Mayweather, golovkin . Canelo is the type of fighter to everyone puts on great performances but always has controversy surrounding him .shady scorecards as well with alot of controversy and no clear wins.

    #5 usyk

While usyk is on my top 5 p4p lists at #4
This man had become undisputed at cruiserweight a great noble accomplishment
While that is true. There is alot of hype surrounding him . Many of his fans are swearing he will clear out heavyweight beating the giants in A.J , fury , wilder

This man has not even had one fight at heavyweight yet and hes already being hyped to stop and clear the division in a sweep .while his skills are amongst the best. He certainly has alot of hype surrounding him and has received alot of hype in a division he has not fought in

Note : this my list in most overated fighters today
    Do not get butthurt
This lists is subject to change based on fighters performances in the future .

Plenty of brits that are overhyped to our domestic audience.

Across the pond there always seems to be a lot more noise about Wilder or either of the Charlo brothers than their achievements merit.

Not a huge fan of the overrated/underrated narrative, as people seem to allocate these labels based on a boxer's most recent fight, and a bad performance and/or a loss can be due to all sorts of factors. Bad match-ups being a huge one.

I guess the current inspiration for the 'overrated' discussion is Spence. And yeah, he didn't handle Porter as comfortably as maybe people thought he should have, but he did show heart and a willingness to go to the dark places Porter chose to take him.

That aspect of Spence's boxing DNA hadn't been tested before the weekend and was, by default, underrated. His boxing skills seem to come up short in the same fight, so you can say they were overrated. And so we go on. Underrated, overrated.... underrated, overrated......

Is there a boxer alive who is rated correctly? lol

It's always about the "big three" isn't it? As if they are head and shoulders above the rest of the division.

    You people make me sick

Not very many Usyk was rated right at CW .
But now that he is a Heavyweight .
Is now overrated a little . unless he wins a few heavyweight bouts .
Won't be as overrated as right now .
Mike Tyson rated right . But when released from custody was overrated .
Rating is just a word for the public to help decide who to back an can be misleading .

Canelo... Wonder how far he'd get without NSAC, Vegas boxing officials & Oscar's $$$$$$$$$$ backing him ??
Crawford... When is he going to show us The Cold Eyed Assassin ??
Ward ... Probably the dirtiest fighter in the last 20 years
And of course the King of all the Over rated
    Floyd Mayweather Jr

Barely anybody is saying Usyk will beat AJ, Wilder and Fury, I'm not sure where you've got that from.

What more could Usyk have done to please you? He beat the top 3 cruiserweights in a row, all away from home. He couldn't have done any better, he's done everything that has been asked of him.

You can't overrate someone who is 10/10, 11/10 doesn't exist. Usyk became undisputed champion and beat all the cruiserweights he needed to face. Bellew ticked off. Bredis ticked off. Gassiev ticked off. And he's beaten more than just them as well..

He isn't overrated. He is just given the credit he rightly deserves.

    Pretty good list all around.
I do believe Canelo is overrated, but I dont think he belongs on a Top 5 list...
Although i would agree he has been well matched along the way.

    My List:

#1 Usyk . No question here, have never see a fighter with so few fights against opposition with such little diversity being trumpeted so hard. Not even Kelly Pavlik, he at least holds a couple wins over Edison Miranda and JT. But as soon as he got beat, all that hype went up.amd out the window. Same will happen to Usyk

#2 GGG...ive never taken the bait on this guy. Made a name for himself beating up tomato cans and smaller guys moving up. Always struggled against top tier competition. Now hes going out like a diva chasing Canelo.
But that never stopped anyone from putting him in the conversation with B-Hop or Hagler

#3 Tyson Fury...I won't bash him too much. IMO his record is pretty on par with Wilder 's, but for whatever reason we keep tagging this guy as the best HW in the division...I'm sorry, if you fight in the HW division and you're that big, and you STILL can't occasionally KO even a fringe contender, im just not buying the hype

#4 Loma....lomas actually pretty good, he's the best fighter on this list...but he's been passed off as the most highly scientific fighter ever by some of the boxing media elites. He did have a nice little run a couple years back, but im still waiting for him to prove his greatness the way a guy would if he truly were the most highly scientific fighter ever. If it means he need to move up in weight, then thats what he need to do

#5 Hrgovic....honestly i only heard of this guy on this forum. I was curious because everyone was hailing him as the future of the division, so I pulled up a couple of his fights on YouTube. After further research, i can say that I really have no idea what all the fuss is about. Just looks like another big stiff target , reminds me of when Monte Barret decapitated Tie Fields along the ropes. I guess he did beat Kevin King Pin Johnson, for whatever that is worth

Thanks for another great thread :)

Golovkin chasing and fighting smaller men, lol. He's not even a big middleweight by any measure. He wanted Cotto and Alvarez because they had the middleweight belt, remember? The Brook fight was a fill in after Eubank, now SMW, pulled out late in the negotiations.
Golovkin was ducked by many until he aged. People forget there was a time when BJS would not fight him and openly admitted he wanted to age him a few years and now he is calling for the fight, right on schedule. When champion fighters duck someone, it's ridiculous to say they are over hyped.
