I can’t say I’m convinced by his closure spiel and bringing up all the mental health stuff. Seems like a tough way to get a pay cheque, he better off selling another book.
Apparently Roy Jones wanted ten million??? I find that hard to believe when couple of Jones last fights were in sports halls against novice/journeymen in front of hardly anyone.
In my mind I always thought Benn v Collins 2 was the ‘twisted ankle’ fight. I hadn’t seen it since the night but watched it again this morning and was shocked just how his career actually ended. Corner pulled him out, no complaints from Benn but Steve Collins and Frank Warren done their nut. Crowd booed the decision, jeered Benn’s retirement announcement and abused him as he walked back to his dressing room. I’m shocked his ego has lasted this long without coming back, so he really must’ve been shot to bits for it to end like that in 1996..
Still think he's absolutely mental to choose Bika. Of all the possible opponents.... why choose ****ing Bika! The man has a head like marble.
Could be, plus there is no title or progression onto something else, so why has Bika taken it, if not purely for a few quid?
It makes no difference what he does now as he can't right that night ever. So all this closure he talks is BS on a massive scale, he should just swallow his pride and admit it, its for the money.
I still don’t see this happening. Eddie has booked his show on the same night as well, so any potential PPV mugs hanging around has been lost as well. Nobody is going to pay £15 for this nonsense anyway and Birmingham is a hard sell for boxing in general. I’m certain reality will kick in and this will get “postponed” and then eventually pulled.
I have my doubts that it will take place. I wish it wasn't happening but I'm shocked it it hasn't been scheduled to be fought in the London area.
