Is it possible for an amateur to win a world title in his first pro fight?

I know this sounds stupid but some people seem to think Olmpic gold medalist are elite fighters and I disagree, could any olmpic gold medalist actually have a chance against a world champ in his debut pro fight?

I imagine the likes of Madrimov, Melikuziev, Lomachenko, Inoue could have picked up a world title against a weak champion on debut no worries. It's a case of timing, and luck. You need a weak champion (who can't make you pay for the lack of pro experience), you need a promoter who believes in you enough and a world body who are willing to give you a shot.

Can one? Yes! Will one? Not some time soon.

Then you also have the Hyun Mi Choi anomaly, where she won a vacant title on debut.

    It is possible but unlikely.
No matter how talented and decorated amateur, I doubt they’ll get a shot at a title in their debut fight.

Yes, if he fights a champion who is not experienced at the high level.

If Patterson had gotten injured (Glazkov style) in his Rademacher fight, it would have already happened.
It's definitely possible, as long if the gold medalist is good enough or the beltholder/champion unlucky enough.

Usyk would have won a word title in his first fight. He had enough experience from WSB over 5 rounds to beat one of the weaker world champs over 12 rounds

Usyk is better than most amateur fighters though, he`s an exceptional boxer most gold medalist aren`t as good as Usyk or as well trained, he`s trained by the same team that train Loma.

It’s one thing to think that a pro is better than an amateur, it’s something else to say that an Olympic gold medallist isn’t an elite fighter. That’s just pure ignorance of the sport, that indicates that you don’t know what you’re seeing in the ring.

Idk how the politics of it works, but they very well could.

Lots of USA, Cuban, Kaz, Uzbek and Ukrainian amateurs who are very good and I'd give a good chance

Lomachenko smoked Salido's ass in his 2nd pro fight despite the ref and judges.

Loma would have easily beaten Gradovich in his pro debut, but IBF wouldn't rank him in top 15 without pro fights.

Rigo, Usyk nor Loma achieved this, it can't be done. And I don't wanna here "they could have" it isn't relevant when they didn't, and I don't know of any am's more skillful than this 3 that are on the horizon that potentially could.

Do you think if a gold medalist could pace himself that he could beat an elite pro in their debut bout then? Ali was nowhere near his prime in the olympics, even though it was at light heavy, my point is when he first turned pro he struggled to find his feet, he was still learning.

Loma was better than any amateur in history though and was somewhat of a one-off, most gold medalist are not as skilled as Loma was at all.

Okay, what about against a top 10 P4P pro then?
