Is it possible for an amateur to win a world title in his first pro fight?

I imagine the likes of Madrimov, Melikuziev, Lomachenko, Inoue could have picked up a world title against a weak champion on debut no worries. It's a case of timing, and luck. You need a weak champion (who can't make you pay for the lack of pro experience), you need a promoter who believes in you enough and a world body who are willing to give you a shot.

Can one? Yes! Will one? Not some time soon.

Then you also have the Hyun Mi Choi anomaly, where she won a vacant title on debut.

No matter how talented and decorated amateur, I doubt they’ll get a shot at a title in their debut fight.

It’s one thing to think that a pro is better than an amateur, it’s something else to say that an Olympic gold medallist isn’t an elite fighter. That’s just pure ignorance of the sport, that indicates that you don’t know what you’re seeing in the ring.

Lomachenko smoked Salido's ass in his 2nd pro fight despite the ref and judges.

 

Loma would have easily beaten Gradovich in his pro debut, but IBF wouldn't rank him in top 15 without pro fights.

 

Rigo, Usyk nor Loma achieved this, it can't be done. And I don't wanna here "they could have" it isn't relevant when they didn't, and I don't know of any am's more skillful than this 3 that are on the horizon that potentially could.
