I think I'll be doing these from now on, so let's get it started. Standard reminder as usual. Reminder: The point of this series is for you to rewatch these fights and share your current thoughts and analysis, not to rehash what you think you remember seeing or reading years and years ago. These were such brutal fights with close rounds involving two of my favourite fighters, I'm curious to see how people score the individual rounds and let people who don't know how good the fights were a chance to watch. Saad vs Johnson 1 1. Marv 10-9 CLOSE 2. Even 19-19 (Saad 10-9) CLOSE 3. Marv 29-28 (Marv 10-9) CLOSE 4. Even 38-38 (Saad 10-9) 5. Marv 48-47 (Marv 10-9) 6. Marv 58-56 (Marv 10-9) CLOSE 7. Marv 68-65 (Marv 10-9) 8. Marv 78-74 (Marv 10-9) 9. Marv 87-84 (Saad 10-9) CLOSE 10. Marv 97-93 (Marv 10-9) CLOSE 11. Marv 105-103 (Saad 10-8)* 12. TOS *Saad had him looking like a drunk gazelle on a frozen lake multiple times and clearly landed much more damaging shots. Great fight. One of the best. I tried not to score rounds even, as I don't like to, and there were some rounds which were very close. Saad vs Johnson 2 1. Marv 10-9 2. Even 19-19 (Saad 10-9) 3. Marv 29-28 (Marv 10-9) 4. Marv 39-37 (Marv 10-9) 5. Marv 48-47 (Saad 10-9) 6. Even 57-57 (Saad 10-9) 7. Saad 67-66 (Saad 10-9) 8. TOS Almost all of the rounds were very close, so I didn't specify by writing close by the sides of them. Man, Saad was tough as ****. He could take a right bang. Give Johnson the gas tank to keep up his pace for 15 and make him slightly more durable and you looking at one helluva fighter there.
2 of the best fights i ever saw. Watched the 2nd one live on TV. Cant begin to say how much that fight meant to me it was just incredible to watch.
Will try to check them out...but I have not ventured above 160 for 6 months or so...so no promises but I will try and check these out if time allows. Saad has never been in a bad fight in my recollection
I personally preferred the first one but both were unbelievable. It was incredible, I completely envy anybody who saw that light heavyweight era live. Can we get a Scorecard RU?
