How do you think old-school boxers (pre-1950s) would perform against today’s top competitors?

Willie Pep was years ahead of the game back then, I saw a film study by an MMA expert youtuber who said some MMA fighters are actually using Pep`s moves now, that`s how evolved his technique was, amazing.

Well wouldn`t old time welters just fight at lightweight instead then?

Pep was years ahead of the game back then, and still better defensively than most fighters today.

Other countries have caught up with American boxing, their trainers have more knowledge of the sport than they did in yesteryear.

As in how they were back then, transported to today? They’d get beaten up and quit boxing before we’d ever heard of them. If you mean those same guys having the advantage of starting now and having the sport evolved behind them, plus some less silly training, less silly diet etc... some of them could do well. They obviously wouldn’t do as well as they did back then, because boxing is a global sport now and just from those numbers/additional styles the likelihood of them succeeding is greatly diminished.

Ive explained this over and over on here but the loma-usyk-hrgovic fans for obvious reasons dont want to hear it.

Fact is boxing went from being a hugely popular sport in the US to barely even a niche sport today. Its been a slow and steady descent over decades. These days most young americans know very little about the sport.

Put it this way most top american fighters these days wouldnt make the top 10 all time americans in their divisions.

Most top euro fighters today are the bezt ever euro in their divisions.

It doesnt take a genius to see that, but these guys are being willfuly ignorant to push an agenda.

Guys from the 40s would think they were seeing sorcery from a prime Mayweather.

If basic Castillo can get in on Floyd, SRR would have no problem.

The old timers would dominate. They were much more complete fighters. The depth of boxing in the US alone, the number of active registered fighters and trainers, was far greater than the world combined today.

40-50s? Take Robinson, Armstrong, Louis, Graziano, Zale, Pep and Cerdan.....they take out all your champs today.

The problem is people always compare the cream of the crop vs the cream of the crop...

Take the top 25 of every weight class from back in the day and pit them against the top ten of all your belts today....slaughterhouse.

Are you saying, that back in the 40s and 50s there were far more registered fighters in the US alone - than in the entire world today?

They would beat up Tyson Fury. If Otto Wallin did it.

    This question again...

Guess what? Boxers would win, some would lose. Your question is vague Mark.

    What boxers, for example?
