    PhD in badassery! Look at referee Stanley Christodoulou covered in blood.

    From the end of Bob Foster - Spinks Unification is quite easily a 175lbs golden age, more deeper than it's 40's counterpart

    Champions such as;
    Mike Rossman
    Dwight Muhammad Qawi
    Eddie Mustafa Muhammad
    Matthew Saad Muhammad
    Victor Galindez
    Mate Parlov
    John Conteh
    Marvin Johnson
    Spinks

    Contenders such as;
    Pierre Fouire
    Richie Kates
    Jesse Burnett
    Yaqui Lopez
    James Scott (Rahway Prisoner)
    Davies Brothers (Eddie and Johnny Davis)
    Jerry Martin
    Murray Sutherland

    Today's 175 crop aint' bad, certainly better than RJJ/ Virgil Hill era

    Id love to see Beterbeiv mix it up in that era.

    Him vs Lopez, Saad, Mustafa, Galindez and Qawi would be absolutely brutal
    Even if I'd only pick him to win one.

    Galindez was a Class A champion, and truly, this ko over Kates was perhaps his finest win. He fought less conservatively this time due to the sheer desperation of being badly cut, and his great champion's heart carried him through. Galindez would own Kovalev, Beterbiev, Ward, and above all,..Canelo if he were around today. He'd beat every single one of them.

    Truly, there wouldn't be that much mixing up,...although he (Galindez) very well could...I feel sure that he would have beaten Beterbiev from off the ropes....countering the Russki all night long, racking up points and winning a decision....VG could do that all night long...it was his winning formula. He was a supreme 15 round fighter.

    Kovalev being prone to bodyshots would not want to face Yaqui lopez and Eddie Mustafa Muhammad, two killer body punchers. Look at Yaqui combination punches vs Saad (ATG Heart/Will boxer) and Eddie Mustafa Muhamamd vs Marvin Johnson/Jesse Burnett.

    Rossman showed you need to fight tenaciously on the inside to threat Galindez.

    You're right about Galindez being a great 15 round fighter, comes alive during the championship rounds something you see a lot with Ali, Eusebio pedroza, Salvador Sanchez and Arguello from that decade, knowing when to really pick up scoring points.

    Eddie Mustafa Muhammad problems other than weight later on were he regularly coasted through rounds without throwing punches, which costed him in several bouts.

    I belive Galindez was lucky to get the decision over Lopez (great contender who should get a nod in the IBHOF some day given the competition he faced like Joey archer of his time in the 1960's or Quarry with the golden age Heavyweights)

    I know I've seen them, the more I watch of that era the more embarrassed I feel at picking Ward and Kovalev to beat Qawi a couple months back.

    I didn't say anything about Kovalev, I was talking about Beterbeiv. His inside short punches would see him stop Galindez imo.

    Back in those days all of Galendez bouts were shown live on free network tv. I never warmed up to him at that time but grew to realize he was a great fighter. Intelligent counter puncher and a heavy hitter.
