How do you think old-school boxers (pre-1950s) would perform against today’s top competitors?

I used to think crap like "they had poor technique and boxers today are far more evolved" but then I actually educated myself, they were harder than coffin nails back then and there was nothing wrong with their technique, those guys were rolling with punches long before Floyd Mayweather made it cool, they would work 50 hour weeks in backbreaking jobs and fight a rediculous amount of times a year, in longer fights, it was very, very, VERY hard to have a padded record back then, even guys with 6-4-2 records were usually tougher than some 25-0 fighters today.

Do you seriously think old school fighters didn't know how to roll with a punch??

I think they’d be flabbergasted by their inability to hit him. More flummoxed by his defense than offense.

Why would fighters back then be physically stronger? Fighters often have better diets nowadays.

Constant movement, no emf's, no pesticides, no hormones and antibiotics The soil back then actually had a high level of nutrients that most crop land doesn't have today. Most human beings alive today are both mentally and physically weaker than everybody from 100 years ago.

I said in the post, it was incredibly difficult to have a padded record back then, good fighters were far more often thrown in with other good fighters at very early stages of their careers, the likes of Dmitriy Salita got to 30-0 before getting taken out in a minute by Amir Khan, back then he wouldn't have got to 5-0 before being knocked out

Old fighters used to go 50+ rounds, while doing most of their training in the backbreaking labour jobs they used to do from morning to night, nowadays very very few top full time professional fighters can go 12 without blowing out their arsehole

They knew how to get on the inside and rough a mother****er up too, Mayweather is exceptional but they would be grappling, elbowing, heabutting and roughing the **** out of him, think of Maidana only rougher

Great defense isn't a modern concept

This guy didn't get 10 fights in without a loss

So old fighters "used to go 50+ rounds"? When was this a common occurrence?

You shouldn't be asking this question after watching Wilder vs Ortiz fight. It was very tough fight for modern-day champion

Uhm... some would win, some would lose. Is this really a question that needs over-analyzed answers?
