How will history view Chad Dawson?

A good boxer who should have kept Mayweather Sr. as his trainer.

 

He was the best LHW in the world for a few years. However his decline was abrupt.

If he is remembered at all, he will be remembered as a fighter who showed some promise until his Achilles heel - that fragile mandible - was exposed.

Dawson is yet another cautionary tale about how CHINS MATTER in boxing.

 

I definitely think the drop to 168 and subsequent beatdown took something from him and Stevenson hammered the nails in. That was the end of his chin and career.

 

Very skilled boxer but also very mentally weak just didn't have the heart for the sport. Could have been great if he did. Good career but also disappointing at the same time.

 

He should have never dropped to 168 either. Definitely think that cut and beatdown took something from him. The Pimp wouldn't have had an easy time with a prime Dawson, not sure he wins honestly.

 

Solid boxer whose physical gifts allowed him to get wins over older veterans.
Lacked a champions mentality.

Honestly, I think he could have been better. And I truly believe he got lucky with the timing. But maybe an early career loss could have helped him.
And some bad career choices were made, inactivity being one of those.
