Primes? If Berbick can keep Ron away with the jab, with a stick and move night, then its Trevs fight on a UD. However, he's an easy target to hit, and if Ron comes out fast and aggressive like he did with George, then there is a good chance the ref has to stop the fight about half way through the bout in Rons favour, with Berbick trapped, being pounded on the ropes and ready to fall.

Lyle by decision, I reckon he drops Berbick at least once but Trev sees the last bell.

    Lyle with the early ko.

I do not like Berbick against hitters. He constantly wades in looking to back up an opponent and fight a long infight. That's why he got ko'd against hitters he fought--he just didn't fight many. He gives troubles to boxer types, but Lyle will catch him coming in with that nice short left hook he threw.

Like going the distance against young Rahman by the age of 42?

You seem to hold Rahman in much higher esteem than myself. He was another boxer, very typical of the opponent selections of clever Trevor

I get you with the wading in style but Berbick only got himself kod twice I believe, and once against Tyson. So, yep he may be defeating himself with that style if you get me, but not necessarily gets kod against lyle.

good matchup, as crazy as trevor was he was a very good fighter, I think much better than credited for. I think Ron is just a better fighter all around. Ron by dec. or probably KO

I actually see Berbick going the distance in this one. He was resilient. But Ron would pound out a solid decision.

Over 12, or even 10, I think Lyle would bang Berbick out. I think Ron hit plenty hard enough to catch Berbick enough to hurt him and I don't think Berbick is Jimmy Young cute or has the all round game that Quarry had, to name 2 "contender level" guys who beat Lyle in his peak.

Whilst I do think that Lyle's "bad-ass" rep does tend to get him over-rated by some, I think Berbick's win over a strangely subdued Thomas and his win over a ruined John Tate gets Trevor similarly over-rated.

I remember Berbick getting iced by Mercado and getting outpointed by S T Gordon. To me, Trevor was an erratic but strong, awkward guy with reasonable power, decent basic skills and a reasonable but not bomb proof chin who was in the "right place, right time" to outpoint Pinklon when he did. I don't think Trevor's defence would enable him to be elusive enough to avoid enough Lyle bombs and I see Ron stopping Trevor.
