    5.Ray Mercer
    4 Mike Spinks I
    3.Ernie Shavers
    2. Tim WitherSpoon
    1.Ken Norton

Few fighters . VERY few HW's today can exhaust themselves like Larry & Ken did. THey were so tired at the end, they tried to tap each other on the belly to say good fight, but their arms were too tired to raise up, LOL!
Ebb N Flow is the perfect phrase to describe this back n forth war.

Some say Larry lost the fight with Tim, 4 those who never seen this, Larry had to dig deep. I think the only reason why Rd 9 was round of the year was because Larry got hit with house & stayed upright.

Shavers yet another example proving Larry could be hit. & dropped, but to get up, readjust, adapt and take control is the epitome of a world class fighter.
Yeah Spinks won, but I gave the victory to Larry. He fought the right fight and never allowed the young guy to look dominant.
5 was a tossup between Mercer & Cooney. Father time is why I went with Mercer. He wasn't supposed to win this.

Snipes was a gr8 example of him adjusting. Actually The Truth as well. I liked Carl's post fight interview when he said he proved that he had the faster jab, but Larry had the more experienced jab- shooting just past that eye to slice him up !!! HAHAHAAaa...larry knew Carl had a fast & accurate jab,but found a way to win.

It was a tossup @ 5 between Mercer & Cobb. Hey, I enjoyed that fight. Hopefully younger generation can appreciate Larry outside of his win over an aging Ali & Brawl with Norton.
    Frazier was a demolition job.

I like Larry, I don't care what people think about his attitude or what he said about Marciano, he's an ATG boxer mover who had some very entertaining fights and is among the top 10 most consistent fighters of all time.

    Top 3/4 HW

Best wins? Best performances? or most entertaining fights?

Spinks 1? Holmes was better in Spinks 2

Holmes vs Leon Spinks wasn't a best win, but his performance was excellent.

Norton V Holmes, one of the greatest two sided, heavyweight title fight s ever imo. It was baptism of fire for Holmes and Ken s last great fight.

Honorary mention for the Holyfield fight considering his age & what Holy went on to achieve.

Holmes first bout with Spinks is not one of his top fights. He was ill trained and allowed Spinks to dictate the bout.

    His top 5(6) bouts:

Norton - Holmes in a tough bout prevailing against the undisputed No 1 contender.
Ali - Holmes at his absolute top of form.
Shavers - both bouts. One for his utter dominance. The other for his dominance and showing ATG toughness.
Cooney - Holmes showed a perfect fight plan to nullify a KO punchers power.
Weaver - As with Shavers here he was on the verge of being stopped, he looked exhausted and ready to go yet found a way to win. This type bout is what historians look for in ranking greatness.

Holmes was exhausted by the mid rounds vs Spinks. At this point in his career he was an old hwt with shop worn speed and skills. If we are to pick his top 5 bouts of his entire career this would not be one of them.
