You have points but you just have to look at his earlier fights to confirm it's Golovkin waning and not that his opponents have got better. He is clearly a lot slower now and just hasn't got the gears anymore, I confidently say his power has gone too.

It's a shame he is facing this kind of opposition at this stage in his career, we still have to give him credit though because he's still arguably beating the world's best fighters.

I once read a good post that his performances dropped when he enrolled with voluntary testing. Maybe Golovkin is not the same now he's stopped taking certain minerals? It's clear though at 37 you are past your peak.

    He is shot and old.
    Power has diminished.
He is slower than he already was.
    Punch resilience has diminished.

He lost last night. No wonder he got booed.

37 or 38 at this level is usually the tipping point when a fighter becomes shot or on a serious decline. The differnces usually come from the feet first - its hard to move in and out as before - and then losing those vital tenths of a second in speed in terms of head movement and throwing punches.

Either GGG juices now and gets back to where he was circa Kell Brook (already slipping abit) or he continues getting battered these remaining four fights he has left on DAZN.

****, I forgot he still had 4 fights signed. I am afraid he will get stopped by then.

He's far from a shot fighter but definitely past his best days, and mostly it's evident in his legs. He is more lumbering now and is struggling to stay in proper punching range. Hell, SD was turning him at times last night like Roy Jones.

I don't question his power, he's just not landing the same caliber shots as he did previously. Still a great fighter, but I hope he doesn't hang around too long because he's starting to eat a lot of leather.

Don’t forget this shot fighter beat kell brook that bad that he is now finished . Jacobs in my eyes got beat quite easily . Canelo first fight was a triple g win but for biased judging . The second fight probably a draw or maybe a canelo win . And he has just beat a very dangerous fighter to be world champion again but he still hasn’t done enough . Let’s not forget that all of these great fighters like canelo cotto and others such as Saunders wouldn’t go near him 5 years ago but suddenly when this so called decline started they all want a piece .

Totally agree, which is why I say GGG still is a great fighter. That was an excellent win.

I'm comparing it to the previous time I saw him live, in the same building against Lemieux. He relied on his legs in that fight and did not engage in a war. These days, he is forced to stand and trade and against guys who have a speed advantage. He has lost the ability to impose a different style predicated on his jab.

What a coincidence that GGG is "shot", or "just had an off night" every time he fails to impress against top fighters.

Canelo, Jacobs, and now Derevyanchenko have proven that GGG isn't the unbeatable monster his fanboys say he is.

The best part of this post is where the OP states that girl who knows nothing about boxing also thought GGG lost. And that proves what you dope??

GGG is in decline. It's clear to see.

What we saw last night is a combination of GGG showing signs of age and Chenko being better than he was given credit for.

Chenko is a good and underrated fighter. He's maybe not great in any one category of boxing skill but he's pretty good at all of them. The total package is good and on a given day he's a tough fight for anyone in his weight class.

All that being said....I'd like to see GGG retire. He took a lot of punishment last night. As fighters age, they dont do the little things as well necessary to make their opponent miss. They have to rely on their chin more.

That is why fighters at the end if their career tend to get more damage done to themselves than the first 90% of their careers. I made up the 90% number but I think you see my point.

Think Ali. In the start of his career he did not take much punishment as he was elusive. By the end if his career he was resorting to rope-a-dope.

The signs are there. GGG should take that last farewell fight and ride off into the sunset.

I hate to see the guy turn into an Ali, Toney or RJJ.

We all hate to see our favorite fighters retire no matter if it's GGG, Pacman, Toney, ... but at some point it's for their own good and we are not doing them a favor by hoping they will continue down the road to mush-brain status.

Boxing is very much a young man's game.
