You think Darius beat up Virgil? Hill has nothing to keep Dwight off of him. Qawi pummels him and stops him around 9.
I would put my money on a prime Qawi but it would not surprise me to see Hill when a MD. He was a phenomenal fighter when he was at his best. Very underated on this forum.
Yes I know he wasn't prime for Darius. However my point was that he couldn't keep Darius off of him so he wouldn't be able to keep Dwight off of him. Allow me to elaborate. PRIME Virgil Hill couldn't outbox Tommy Hearns who not only was prime at 147 and 154, but was also beaten by Iran Barkley at 175. Prime Dwight Muhammed Qawi hammers any versions of Virgil, Tommy and Iran.
Agree, I don't see Hill having the ability to beat prime Qawi. With a fighter like Qawi you must have the firepower to get his respect (like the Spinks jinx at Lt.Heavy) Hill didn't have that type of firepower. Plus , Qawi had an excellent jab, and could nullify what Hill used best and that was his jab. Qawi also took advantage of his shortness in height and was extremely hard to hit cleanly because of it. Like most have noted Qawi in 10rds or less.
What are you kidding me? Spinks is a greater boxer then Hill BUT Spinks couldnt move like a Hill. Qwai thinks he had trouble with Spinks movement hes in for a rude awakening when he boxes Hill. Hill by decision.
One thing Hill has in this matchup is a stylistic ace in the hole. He rarely threw his right, and Qawi loved to get low and punch up at guys in countering their right hands. That and his mobility lead to some frustrating rounds for Qawi, though I do favor him to edge the fight on the cards.
Hill would have an early advantage, but Qawi would start smoking by the mid rounds, and he'd dish out a beating to Hill in the late rounds. Qawi clear UD.
You don't think Spinks colossal power in both hands had something to do with that? Spinks had one punch power in either hand and could box extremely well even if he looked a bit herky jerky. Qawi would get inside Hill's jab and rap him upstairs and down.
