Its not a bad injury, lateral patella knee dislocations are easy enough to put back in with no real lasting damage . Only thing I would be concerned about is thats its the second time he has done it on the same knee, last time was at Euro Champs 6 years ago. Only thing stopping Joe from being a world champ is Joe, his old Irish team mates all say the same, he is a lazy trainer and ive never seen him in as good a shape as I did the other day, he has also put pics up on social media before of slugging pints of Guinness few weeks before big championships. Irish Gypsies are lazy trainers and there diets wouldnt be the best only hope he can switch on now hes a pro.

It goes down as a loss not NC. No big deal in the grand scheme of things he was performing well up until that moment. Best now to get the recovery he needs to get back training and active asap
A non-gypsy would've emitted a scream loud enough to shatter every window in the venue upon suffering an injury like that. Gypsy Joe Ward barely even winced.
Happened my son at National championships some years ago. He quit boxing but the money behind Ward should sort it out, he looked in great nick, a Joe Ward that fit matches any super middleweight in about a year,- "in that nick"!- Just as well, without the "0" didn't hurt Lomo
I don't know why a loss would even matter. Who ****ing cares? Does anyone actually care about undefeated records. Tell that to Danny Roman who's dominating at 122. Undefeated records only matter if you're mentally weak, we'll see how strong Ward is mentally.
Shouldn't have any long term effects, what it can cause is long standing laxity in his quadricep tendons. The fact that its happened twice means there's more of a likelyhood of it happening again. He needs intensive training to strengthen his tendons to reduce the chances of it happening again. The other explaination for it is he has shallow femeral condyles and is more prone to it. I was very happy when i saw it was just a patella dislocation tbh but id be getting an MRI of the knee to check out how the tendons are doing and if there is any bony abnormalities
