    It's all about the context!

Read the thread and then you'll understand these reactions.
His own statements and reactions after the fight, his demeanor, even calling people liars for breaking the story while 100% true.

If he had been upfront on even let it all in the middle after the fight as it was likely he wouldn't take the rematch, the fallout probably wouldn't have been half of what it is now.

Of course a boxer is unlikely to take the rematch on his situation, because there's not much chance it ends up in a positive way.
But he kept stating the opposite

So what? It's not like he was selling tickets for a rematch. Maybe he was deluding himself. Who knows or cares? Big Dave from Birmingham's feels got hurt? Diddums!

No, but if you're a public persona, scoffing people and calling them liars for telling what he himself knew was the truth, while keeping up the charade. That doesn't go over well and you can expect backlash for that.

Look I know where you're coming from but I'd put it down to boxers pride or image. Look at Pacquaio for example couldn't admit that Mayweather was after beating him even though it was a trimming. Pacquaio is a guy that is noted for being humble and fan friendly guy yet it couldn't admit defeat when it was clear for the world to see
