That Usyk guy. What a cowardly loser. Seriously though, looks bad on Hearn here. If that's the full story.
So for those saying 'oh but it was at short notice, no-one else was available'...care to rethink? He didn't have to fight a bum picked from the finest of cherry trees. But he did. What does he gain from fighting clowns like Witherspoon? They may as well not turn up. It doesn't tell us or them anything. And it isn't exciting for the fans either. This is a pointless exercise.
Wow Joey is really desperate & conducting himself like that will do him no favors imo.. No one is scarred of his boring ass, he had his time to shine vs Amir Mansour. In that fight he was walking around trying to catch butterflies. The guy should be at 175 if he took bologna out of his diet
Yeah, he obviously got screwed over by Hearn, but let's not act like he was anything of a threat to Usyk. Wouldn't surprise me if Kauffman send a signed contract to Hearn too, but then he just chose the guy who Usyk would look the best against, and has the best looking record (and that's obviously not Joey).
Usyk hasn't fought in almost a year, is coming off a serious injury, and they've had to find an opponent to step in on a few days notice after his original opponent Tyrone Spongle pissed dirty for an industrial dose of the most potent PEDs known to man. Obviously Dawejko would've been a better opponent than Witherspoon, but he's also a risky one to take on such short notice because he's as durable as hell, pretty slick and skilful, can crack a bit, and he's usually very competitive and pushes you close and makes you look bad even when he loses. And maybe there's some truth to the rumours about him knocking AJ out in sparring during preparation for Ruiz fight and therefore E-Hearn doesn't want to run the risk of things going pear shaped again even if the risk of it doing so was minimal.
the fight is in a matter of days. given that, isn't it completely understandable to send out multiple contracts to different parties, have multiple come back signed around the same time frame, then choose among those signed? hearn doesn't have time to ask one guy, discuss the terms, have them rejected, and only then after being rejected pass the contract on to someone else. no one 'got ****ed' here, he was just one potential candidate.
This is a joke right? We are lucky the card is still going on. Usyk gets back in the ring, he and his team get paid for the time put in in training camp, He gets a little time in boxing someone with a longer reach and some size. I'm sure there was a mad scramble to rescue the card. Blame Sprong. He flicked up the opportunity of his boxing career. The thought of Usyk running from Joey D is ridiculous. Joey D is an overfed Cruiser at best. Usyk has been trashing better opposition than Joey D for a long time. I'm not sure how well Usyk is going to do against the top few heavies but a pudgy little guy medium talent like a Joey D is no threat. Silly thread.
Usyk’s prospects: 1. If Joshua regains the belts, Hearn will not let him fight Joshua as a voluntary 2. Haymon wouldn’t let Ruiz or Wilder fight him. Conclusion: Usyk needs to have mandatory status to fight for a title.
