Funny isn’t it how the sports two biggest A side stars both have terrible stamina.Ruiz cottoned on to this and wouldn’t let AJ take any rounds off.Kovalev needs to have the same mentality.
Canelo hurt GGG to the body several times in the rematch, bodyshots were the reason Golovkin was backing up for nearly the entire fight.
You think its peds taking them out of their natural fighting weight ? Body cant cope ? Because both are super fit..Kov has to watch his tank to at 36 that's the problem for me mate, if he keeps it long range he could coast it..How you think it goes ?
He did, just less so than Derevyanchenko managed. In the second fight GGG was absolutely feeling those body shots, that's why he wanted to stay at range and boxed off the back foot. He also just looked like he'd aged a ton this weekend. Derevyanchenko probably has more power than Canelo at 160 but Canelo hits hard enough to demand respect at that weight for sure.
Golovkin has an iron midriff. That SD punch is the only time I've ever seen GGG bothered by a body shot and you can see why: its a liver shot, perfectly placed. That's Golovkin's own "lucky punch" and there's a reason for that. You can't harden your liver and a good liver blow can really ruin your day. Derevyanchenko was opening Golovkin up more with his footwork and movement, whereas Canelo wasn't trying to step around him all the time, which means his punches were coming from a more predictable angle. Moreover, GGG was well aware that Canelo liked to go to the body and kept his elbows tucked in and his head sort of crouched forward. A LOT of the bodywork people were jizzing over in the Canelo fight was picked off on arms and elbows. Conversely, I believe that this stance left GGG's chin in a more vulnerable position especially for the uppercut, which is possibly why Canelo had good success with that punch against GGG.
Peopple thinking Canelo had GGG on the run...How come his back was never against the ropes ? He was backing off making space & kept Canelo on the end of the jab exactly where he wanted him. GGG never anticipated that the judges would not count the jabs (rock solid) as point scoribg/
Canelo did hurt him, especially in the rematch. Why do you think Golovkin didn't want Mexican style anymore.
No dount he was hurt at times, equally was canelo...it showed. No Canelo changed tack after his Mexican fans criticised him for running in the 1st fight, so GGG adjusted to spoil Canelos game plan You have surpassed yourself! Well done
One thing you have to consider is that most of his top opponents always fight out of character against Canelo, I believe its because they respect his power and his counter punching ability. Golovkin went from Mexican style to fighting awkwardly and timidly, conforming to jabbing instead of his seek and destroy style. Cotto refused to follow through on his punches or commit. The only way he survived was to stay in survival mode. Lara had never and to date has never ran as much as he did against Canelo. Chavez Jr. completely refused to engage or take any risks, went on survival mode from round 1. Angulo also refused to engage, ater getting hit to the body in round one he went into a shell, much the same like Chavez Jr. Jacobs fought much more cautious than he ever has in any fight including the Golovkin fight. The times his opponents did not change their style they got KTFO.
