Went round the world fighting all comers for a payday. I remember his mrs was his manager and was a battleaxe .I seem to remember he got injured in a fight .Hope he's ok decent boxer
I seem to recall he's a boxing analyst now so I think he's doing well. Not a bad fighter at all I seem to remember, not a great by any means but a grafter, decent guy.
Barry Michael is a legendary figure in Australian boxing. He won the IBF Junior Lightweight title off Lester Ellis who was a very popular young champion at the time. That put Barry on the nose with boxing fans in Australia. He managed to defend the title three times before losing soundly against Rocky Lockridge. The Lester Ellis fight was massive in Melbourne back in the day. So much so, they made a documentary about it years later called "A Melbourne story". It's a great watch & tells the story of what went on. This content is protected He's also an excellent commentator & has been for many years. As ex-fighters go, I don't think there's a better analyst anywhere in the world who's more engaging to listen to.
