He seems to almost have a masochistic streak. It seems appealing to him to be a brave fighter who lost many times but didn't duck anyone. Strange mentality really. I think he was probably drunk on Saturday when he mooted the idea.
Dubois-Allen is a terrible fight and a step backwards for Dubois, frankly. If Allen wants to continue fighting he should be in something like that Ultimate Boxer tournament at HW
Allen v Gorman would be a better match up. DDD is too powerful, even for a chin like Allen's and that is the problem, too good a chin but without the boxing skills to accompany it. A recipe for punishment. A weaker chin would ironically see Dave Allen a whole lot safer as his losing fights would end earlier minus the ongoing round by round punishment.
Be his perfect comeback fight. Profile no danger easy win. Allen would make money but not die. Everyone's a winner
Anyone who truly cares for Dave Allen would advise him to retire, not take easy fights but retire. Find another avenue to fight the demons in his head.
Whats going to change between December & March? doubt Allens ever going to learn to move his head, let his hands go or show any sort of boxing IQ.
Not sure why there is so much focus on Allen’s health? - Boxers risk their health, both short term and long term every time they walk into a ring. What about the cannon fodder used as punch bags for fighters ‘on their way up’? ... The more competitive toe to toe dust ups? - We all love them, but the punishment is cumulative and historically, the type of fights which produce the tragedies. We are all fans of a sport which is inherently dangerous & the fans who use Allen to preach about the welfare of boxers - they’ll be no doubt watching his next fight.
