Officially announced. WBO world welterweight title at stake, 3rd defense of Crawford. Kavaliauskas is his mandatory #1 contender. This content is protected
Somebody's 0 has got to go*. They are 35-0 (26) and 21-0-1 (17) respectively. Their combined stoppage ratio is 75.4%. (*the going of an 0 is warrantied contingent upon a result other than a draw or NC.)
Damn! Thought you liked Eggy... (and thought he was legit) Just don't like how their styles match up, for him?
Egidijus Kavaliauskas had a draw with the great Sugar Ray Robinson. I don't know how Crawford can win this one.
Not at all. He was getting touched up by Ray Robinson, and seemed quite fragile and a bit chinny against both him and Abreu. Egid doesn't have a good poker face at all, and that will work against him here as well with the ref.
Crawford should be able to handle this, although I would really like to see him pushed to see how he reacts. Should be a pretty fun card.
Crawford by stoppage. I really like Crawford and want to see him doing exceptional things at 147. After such an easy fight against Khan in April 2019, he really should have got back in the ring sooner. 32 years old. he should get busy.
This doesn't do a whole lot for Bud's legacy, but its a decent filler fight before we hopefully see him in some marquee fights in 2020 and 2021
...and just consider the implications of that statement. We're talking about somebody who is ranked not just in the WBO mandatory spot but also eighth overall at welter by Ring Mag, and is a 2x Olympian, and while yes his stock took a dip with the Robinson draw he's still the same kid that decimated the very tough & capable David Avanesyan last year. ...and this is someone that is entering a match with Crawford under the demarcation of "not a hope".
Legacy defining fight for Bud; Horn, a worn down Khan and Kavliauskas is up there with Benitez, Duran and Hearns in terms of best trio of scalps beaten by a fighter during the last 50 years in the WW Div.
Thats why we need to see Crawford in Porter. A proven, top level welter who has given every top level opponent hell. To this day, no one has defeated Porter decisively. Lets see if Crawford can separate himself from Thurman and Spence
