The promo from the Saudi press conference day where he is shadow boxing in those ruins he looks morbidly obese. That was a month or so ago. For the first fight he'd had a camp and fight just a few weeks before the fight itself. That was him in tip top shape.
Yeah exactly. He won, comfortably. There’s not too much he should change. If he comes in much lighter it could be to his detriment. Punch resistance - will it be the same? Power? What effect would it have on his body?
That's from a promo campaign for a clothing line called Bonobos, tagline- better fitting menswear. The photo flatters him, that's all.
The only time I have ever seen Andy Ruiz in good shape was after the Parker loss. He trained like a demon and was disciplined with his diet. 6 months later. Then when he returned to the ring against Devan Vargas 15 months after the Parker loss he was out of shape again. Andy will never ever be in shape.
Ruiz Jrs best asset is that hes able to be quick with good stamina at 260lbs I dont think he would gain much of value coming in far lighter and if hes got 30-40lbs less weight behind them clubbing punches he could see himself suddenly coming off second best in exchanges. Id like to see him drop a couple of kilos from the first fight but not much more than that.
I agree. His build works for him, he took a massive shot of Joshua that would have knocked a horse out and went on to win. Would he have taken that shot as well if he was a couple of stone lighter, I have my doubts.
