This is near to Joe Frazier? I guess they both had two arms and two legs.

Johnson was very used to fighting left hookers. Fraziers offense would’ve been completely shut down. He would have been unable to land anything in close which is where Joe normally did most of his damage.

You'd probably pick Tyson to beat Frazier and his win over Ali eclipses all of Tyson's wins

Johnson is maybe one of the only HWs I can’t get a good gauge on. Who would he be compared to today? Maybe Klitchko? With that hit and grab style. I don’t think he would be able to contain Joe. One of the most under rated defensive fighters himself. Joe by KO later rounds

The nearest to Frazier Johnson fought,or do you disagree? Both under 6ft, both 205lbs, both left hookers, both swarmers. Im not implying he was a carbon copy, just the nearest facsimile to Smokin Joe Jack faced. Now stop your lying !lol

I'm not here to bash Johnson. He was one the greatest, most important fighters to ever lace 'em up.

I just don't think that McVea (wasn't that someone's name around here?) is in Frazier's league, either in style or quality. Just throwing a left hook does not make you Joe Frazier. Cooper (both of them, actually) and Tommy Morrison threw great, great left hooks, far better than what we see on this footage and they are nowhere near Joe's league.

If Ali couldn't do that then how does Johnson pull it off?

Frazier would knock Johnson out in 5 rounds. Johnson never fought anyone close to Frazier's level.

Johnson has nothing to keep Frazier off.

A low punch output boxer with out a lot of power has little chance vs an aggressive skilled fighter who throws a lot of punches and hits hard .

    Frazier inside of six rounds.

Sam Mcvey was a teenager when he fought Johnson! Mcvey was much slower, had limited skills and wasn’t really a guy who set up his offense.

No comparison here at all to Joe Frazier.

Frazier was a warrior and absurdly under rated here by many .. I'm a huge Johnson fan but he'd have to be every bit the legend if he were to come out of this on top ... he would not just hold and smother Joe like some ancient Jeffries , he'd have to fight to keep him off .. If I had to pick based on what I've seen I go w Joe ..

Fake news! There was no stoppage in that fight. I have more footage, actually Battling Jim backs McVey up and looks a bit better, though only 2-3 rounds are shown
