Lewis considers Usyk a great fighter but he tells the Ukranian could have problems in the HWs because of the size and Witherspoon was not a big test. Besides he tells that Botha was similar to Usyk as the size and he destroyed him in 2 rounds. In your opinion is Lewis warning Usyk (in a veiled way) he has few chances with boxers like Joshua, Wilder or Fury? https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bo...wis-calls-oleksandr-usyk-a-question-mark/amp/
Lennox getting jealous again it seems, also Lewis wouldn’t have fought him as he avoided southpaws like the plague. Also Usyk is NOTHING like Botha, Lewis just trying to get a W without having to get the W.
His results at the top are limited to being slaughtered twice by Wlad. His results against fighters who would earn top 5 rankings are limited to being slaughtered by Povetkin and Ibeabuchi, and a win over Vitali due to Vitali tearing his shoulder in what would’ve otherwise been an uneventful win for Vitali. I don’t think Usyk’s supporters are hoping for Byrd level performances.
Tua, McCline, Golota, Holyfield, Vitali, Oquendo and Williamson. Not a bad top 6 victories at the top level. Bare in mind he beat a better conditioned Tua 12 month after Lewis. He was a lot more worthy of a title fight than Rahman or Kirk Johnson (who Lewis was trying to fight).
He called Usyk a great fighter but a question mark at HW, I don’t understand how you interpret that as a criticism. He only compared Botha in terms of size. Lewis fought Holyfield, Vitali at the end of his career, rematched two guys that knocked him out but he would have ducked Usyk? Come on man I get you’re a huge Usyk fan but let’s be sensible here.
Lewis will as usual be jealous of any heavyweight fighter getting praise, I’m no AJ fan but he’s correct on Lewis being a hater. As for not fighting Usyk, he avoided Byrd who whilst I think would lose to Lewis he’d make him look bad in the process. Lewis admitted he hated southpaws.
