How come Max Baer never had a Louis rematch?

Baer said he had a hurt right hand prior to the fight and went on winning streak after Louis. Why was there never a rematch?

 

Because he quit fully conscious?

 

Maybe he thought he couldn’t win? Idk just curious. Max went on some winning streak after and I would assume he was highly ranked for a lot of Louis reign was just curious as to why they never met again.

 

He took on 22 4th raters beat them all ,then lost to Farr.
He wasn't ranked at the end of 35,36,37 got back in the rankings for a year then dropped out again until1940.

 

Probably because he would have been decimated again.

He was being marketed for another fight w Joe because of his marketability but the loses to Nova pretty much took him out .. here he and Louis are interviewed about it after I think Max's victory over Galento ..

I think he said that if he was going to be executed, people would have to pay more than $25 to see it, or something like that.

 

There was a considerable head of steam for a rematch, and Baer seems to have wanted it.

The bottom line is that he was matched against Nova, with the winner to get Louis, and Nova obviously won.
