...wait, I don't get it. What's the rationale behind dropping the word "Philippines" off the Philippines Boxing Federation?

 

I do but to be tbfh i haven't see heno fight. Ive been hearing good things about him and if those are true i feel like he should win this

 

Because the Philippines Boxing Federation isn’t the Philippines Games & Amusement Board, it’s its own private entity. The PBF isn’t the National championship/commission, that’s the GAB, so to avoid confusion, they want “Philippines” dropped in the PBF name.

 

I give him a shot but I think Soto’s speed and craftiness will win him the fight.

 

Ah. So, um...what is the PBF, then? Is there jurisdiction over just a specific region and not the whole country or something?

 

I’m not even sure to be honest with you. To me, they’re just an organization that gives out the PBF title, which is meaningless IMO.

 

I see. Kind of like how over here, domestically, if you're going to win a national title you want it to be the NABF (WBC affiliate) or NABA (WBA affiliate), not the garbage IBO USBO.

Nope, just a fan of boxing worldwide, who recognizes the Filipino domestic scene is among the best and most entertaining to follow.

Also used to be a huuuuuge Gerry fanboy in his day. Not that I don't like many of the other champs since then, but he's my all-time fave.

 

It's just that Filipino backward mentality that's why the country hasn't been progressing until Duterte came and gave it a boot on the backside. Things like this is a much a do about nothing. Why make a big deal about names? PBF doesn't stand for "Pretty Boy Floyd" so wtf is the big deal. In P.I they will fight over petty crap like this and just waste time and energy in the end nothing gets done staring at each other with their mouths open like a bunch of numb nuts.

 

Then why not change GAB to PAB or F@G filipino amusement games.
