I know that nobody actually considers him to be World champion but what’s the score with this guy? It will be 2 years next month that Charr won the vacant regular WBA world heavyweight championship beating Ustinov. He was due to make is first defence in September last year against Fres Oquendo but tested positive for both Drostanolone and Trenbolone. The WBA suspended Charr for six months but allowed him to keep his world title. In January his suspension was lifted early and he was again ordered to fight Oquendo who has been inactive since losing to Chagaev in 2014. The WBA also ordered that the winner of that bout must then face Jarrell "Big Baby" Miller within no more than 120 days of Charr/Oquendo. Why is he still inactive? How was Oquendo ever his mandatory? How hasn’t he been stripped after 23 months inactivity and a PED violation?
There isn't a world in the English dictionary that adequately describes the WBA. Utter farcical, corrupt, completely useless in every way imaginable doesn't quite cut it.
His belt is one of the most paper ones in boxing today. Not many take that ridiculous situation seriously.
